Never going back – a total disappointment

I came back to Dreammore hoping to relive the amazing memories from my last visit, but this time was a complete letdown.

The hairdryer was so loud and hot, it literally made my ears ring — it felt like my eardrum burst. It runs nonstop at full blast and is ridiculously loud.

The resort itself hasn’t changed much, and the staff have become even friendlier, which I appreciated. But the food? It has taken a massive nosedive in quality — and honestly, the food used to be half the reason to come here.

Both breakfast and dinner were terrible. After driving 6 hours to get here, I seriously regretted it. The restaurant staff seemed new and untrained — they didn’t know the menu, couldn’t explain anything, and looked completely lost.

At dinner, a server appeared out of nowhere like a ghost, silently dropped a food menu on the table (no drink menu, no water), then disappeared. We waited over 20 minutes and still didn’t have water. Yet somehow, they brought out microwave-heated chicken and dry, shriveled BBQ ribs before even offering us water. The food looked like it had been cooked the day before and just reheated. We walked out — it was that bad.

Why would anyone pay for service like this? Don’t serve disgusting, reheated food — especially when guests are paying over $500 a night. It’s unacceptable.

Breakfast wasn’t any better — just piles of cold potatoes, eggs, and bacon. Even the coffee was cold. If this is what you’re offering, just get rid of the servers and switch to a buffet. At least then I could pour myself a hot cup of coffee.

They cut back on food quality but kept a bunch of useless servers who clearly don’t know what they’re doing. If you're going to make cuts, start there — not with the food. At least then there’d still be a reason to eat here.

But now?...

some family members dined at this restaurant a few years ago and really enjoyed it so we thought we would give it a try. the price is $32.95 per person for family style dining, the food was not of the quality of a $70 dollar meal. we had the pot roast with potatoes and carrots, it was cold and had 1 small potato and tiny slivers of carrots, we had the catfish, it was cold and didn't resemble catfish it appeared to be frozen cod or another frozen fish you would pick up at the grocery. the sole edible meat we had was the fried chicken it was hot , fresh and tasty. the vegetables were not good either, we tried the broccoli casserole which was cold and was nothing more than steamed broccoli with beer cheese sauce, it was nasty. the collared greens were ok, they were cold and tasted ok but had they been warm would have been really good. the mashed potatoes were decent and had they been warm would have been good also. the stone hearth soup was really good, hot and tasty. the kitchen manager and the chef came out and because the food was so second rate, she discounted our meal and allowed us to try all the desserts that were available on the menu, they were ok but were just buffet style desserts that you could get at any buffet in town. the service was top notch, our waitress Jandice, was friendly , helpful and did a super job. we tried the breakfast the following morning and found it to be much better because it was cooked to order. if you go to song and hearth make sure it's for breakfast and ask for Jandice as your waitress, she will take good...

Really wanted to like this place. My wife and I had reservations after a day at Dollywood. We were seated immediately by a friendly hostess. Then we sat there....for 15 minutes. We saw two waiters discussing who should have our table and finally one of them came over amd apologized and took our drink order. That was the best part of the night. Now our server did all he possibly could to make things right, but they just got worse. I asked for his recommendation and he said the ribeye steak was "phenomenal." So we ordered, the wife got the pan-seared chicken. Another forty-five minutes go buy and still no food and several stops by the waiter promising the food was coming and offering a free desert. Finally the food comes out. I don't know what qualifies as phenomenal, but it must mean "better than roadkill." Steak was cold and tough and was served with "ground root vegetables." They looked like black burnt carrots and were undercooked and crunchy. A horrible presentation on the plate. The fried potatoes were not edible. My wifes chicken was dry and the brussel sprouts were burnt. The free dessert was good. For a $100 meal for two with no alcohol it was awful (with tip). Gave 2 stars for service because the server tried so hard to make things right, but it wasn't his fault. Everthing else 1 star. We ate the the next night at the Timberwood Grill at The Island and it was so much better for way less. Dolly came up short here. Save you money and go to a Lone Star Steakhouse and get a better steak...

We arrived late afternoon for resort check-in and weren’t up to leaving again for dinner. 3 adults, 2 teens. It seems Song & Hearth recently switched from buffet to family style? And reviews were all over the place. Rather than do the grab-n-go market, we decided to take a chance as Family Style dining is a fun treat. We placed reservations via Open Table, though it didn’t seem other parties were delayed being seated this Memorial Day weekend. This is a family resort and understandably there were a lot of little littles. The hostess was professional and also accommodated our request for a particular area of the restaurant as it was my brother’s 50th bday. Our server, Karen, was friendly and kept things moving with assistance of dining room support staff. Not rushed, relaxing enough to enjoy the ambiance, and not too slow even though a party of 20 was seated just before us. We had chicken, brisket, and salmon. Broccoli casserole, mac n cheese, & mashed potatoes. The salmon was excellent! Not at all fishy and great flavor. My son, who lives on chicken tenders, loved the wings. Chocolate Mousse & Banana Pudding a great ending. Could grandma make some of the sides “better”? Sure…we all have our preferences. But nothing was horrible. Tea was sweet. Biscuits were hot. Song & Hearth was a great way to immerse into the resorts vibe and begin our time at Dollywood.

My husband and I tried the ala carte breakfast menu during the off season this past February. I originally wanted to order the chicken and waffles but they were not available first thing in the morning. We were told that the chicken was still frozen. No big deal. My husband ordered a coffee and I ordered a sweet tea. He really enjoyed the coffee. This was the sweetest tea I had ever had in my life. I'm not sure if it was because we were one of the first people in the restaurant that morning or if it's normally that sweet. My husband ordered the traditional egg breakfast you can get anywhere with eggs, bacon, toast and breakfast potatoes. I decided to have an omelette since I wasn't able to get the chicken and waffles. The omelette was amazing. I chose ham, onions and cheddar cheese. It also came with a choice of grits or breakfast potatoes. I chose grits and I'm glad I did. I don't normally like grits but these were great. We really enjoyed the breakfast. We visited the resort in November and saw the breakfast buffet. It did not look very good in our opinion and seemed overpriced. We enjoy the breakfast buffet at the Heartsong Lodge better. I wish DreamMore offered the breakfast buffet and a menu option like Heartsong Lodge.

Ate here for breakfast during our stay at Dreammore resort. I like the fact that before you are seated they ask you about any food allergies. Although you can order the buffet there are ala carte items you can choose from. Our family decided to stick with the buffet. The coffee was good and hot and our waitress very attentive to our needs. Typical breakfast fare with a few standouts. For example they have a "donut tree" where you can pick a donut through a glass door. Made to order omelettes and eggs any way you like. Different types of pancakes, hot prepared foods along with breads and pastries. Waffles have the trademark butterfly in the middle however they are served in quarter portions. My favorite was the prime rib hash-so good! Enjoyed the omelette, the vanilla French toast, applewood smoked bacon, and the scrambled egg mixture. Although you can for an upcharage order a small cinnamon loaf for some reason during our visit they didn't have them. No big loss, there's plenty to eat along with orange and apple juice. Beautiful rustic setting with weathervanes and a fireplace to make your visit more enjoyable.
