Pop's Place General Store & Restaurant — Restaurant in Pineville

I had a mixed experience at this restaurant. Overall, it’s a nice place to eat with a good atmosphere. The restaurant was clean, the staff were friendly, and I appreciated how quickly we were seated. The menu had a solid variety of options, which I always enjoy because it gives you the chance to try different things depending on what you’re in the mood for.

Now for the food — some of it was great. You can tell they use good ingredients and put effort into the flavors. My entrée was well-seasoned and nicely presented, and a couple of the sides were absolutely delicious. But what threw me off was that some of my food arrived cold, which really took away from the overall experience. It’s disappointing because you can tell the food could have been amazing if it was served properly.

I get that restaurants get busy, but when your meal arrives lukewarm or cold, it just feels like it sat too long or wasn’t prioritized. When you go out to eat, you expect your food to be fresh and hot. It’s not a deal breaker, but it definitely took away from the enjoyment of the meal.

I’d go back because the place has potential — the flavors were there and the vibe was nice — but I’d hope next time the kitchen pays more attention to the quality and temperature of the food before serving. With a little more consistency, this place could easily be one of...

I live in Texas but I'm originally from Alexandria, La. and my wife and I were home for the weekend visiting. We had eaten at Pop's place several times before and was extremely satisfied in the portion of the fish plates. So being from La. you know how we love catfish, so we ordered 2 catfish baskets and was very unhappy with the portion I had 4 small strips and 1 was more crust than fish along with 18 French fries and on my wife plate she had 3 strips and maybe 22 French fries. This was for $12.⁹⁹,I try and support my small black owned businesses but I can't when I'm not getting my monies worth, they took 1 filet and cut it into strips and served it. One of those spur the moment things I did when I was hungry wanted something different. Something told me to pull up to this place. I seen a lot of cars outside and I had to go see what was going on. I heard about this restaurant. And that it was good particularly on this Friday night. It was a little busy, Even though I ordered the steak dinner, which was great by the way, I checked out their buffet, even though I didn’t partake everything look delicious.
