I’ll NEVER come back here again.
I visited this location because I love Ahmo’s and my whole family has been going here for over 5 years. It’s literally one of my favorites restaurants. So I decide to make a big order because I had my kid with me and we were really hungry. As I was ordering out loud, I see the cook ahead eyeing me but I ignore that… My total comes up to $49 and I happily wait off to the side. From where I’m standing, I can see the kitchen in full view and I witness the same cook (a Latino looking guy in his 40-50s) look at my ticket and bang his fist angrily on the metal counter while shouting out cuss words. This man repeatedly slams his fist and drops the F-bomb and other phrases all while in the vicinity of customers AND earshot of my 6 year old child. It was very loud. At this point, I’m unsettled and worried this unhinged man is going to spit in my food or do something by the level of rage he has at making my order. Did I mention this was close to 8pm? Not even closing time.
So I quickly walk back to the counter before the man could start cooking my food and tell the young cashier (a man in his 20s, dark hair, pale, blue eyes - don’t know his name) to please cancel and refund my order. I explained that I love this place but there’s no way I’m eating food made by an employee who’s acting insane, because I’m worried he would tamper with my food based on his reaction.
The young cashier says “no problem, I understand” and simple tells me it’s refunded and expected me to walk away. Huh? I showed him my bank notification proving Ahmo’s took my $49 already and asked for my refund in cash. Now we have a problem. This young man starts telling me there’s no way he can do that, there’s only $13 in the drawer (but he had well over $50+ in tips alone) and that his system shows I will be refunded and he’s pretty sure it will show up on my statement tomorrow. I politely asked for my refund in cash. He tried bribing me with a free jumbo chocolate chip cookie and drink and offers for the enraged cook to make my order. I tell him that there’s no way I or my child is eating food cooked from a man behaving like that. The young cashier is nervously promising that the cook wont spit in my food and makes excuses for him saying “he’s just like that, he always gets angry” and “he’s very passionate about food, he would never do that” and this is happening while the cook is continuously ease dropping and glancing at me over his shoulder.
I again assert myself politely and ask for my money and it gets tense. The young cashier guy starts getting flustered with me, mind you there’s literally no customers waiting in line and I moved to the side while this was occurring. I ask if there’s someone else I could speak to and he brings the second cook out. He’s respectful, we say hello to each other and I explain to him why I requested a refund and that I want my money now please. This man now gives me the run-around by saying we can call the boss to see or I can make the food for you. At this point, I’m ready to leave and don’t want the food anymore. I respectfully decline and calmly ask for my money. I never cussed, provoked, yelled or was nasty this whole incident. So the young cashier is going from panicking to red faced angry with me. He then starts to raise his voice at me in front of my child and I ignore it at first. This young man is now talking down to me and sounding like he’s going to yelling at me, so I ask him not to yell at me. Both of these men literally try to convince me to take the food and that they “swear” the crazy ill-tempered man in the back won’t tamper with our food. I decline once more. Before the young man gives me the money in cash, he glared at me saying “you’re going to get $100” because he made an error on the computer by accidentally pressing refund twice. I simply replied that I didn’t want $100, just the money they already took from me. Eventually, after not being bullied or finessed, I get my money in cash and I walk out with my child.

Read moreLet me be clear: This is a review of Ahmo's Delivery service, not any in-store experience. I have had two terrible experiences with Ahmo's delivery. The first time, it took them 2.5 hours to deliver, which is insane. By the time our food got to us, it was cold. The second time, today, when the food was late, I called and the guy on the phone told me "Oh, he'll be there in 3 minutes. I'm sorry sir." When 10 minutes went by (already 20 mins late), I reached for the phone to call again when the delivery guy showed up with food that was (a) only kind of right and (b) cold. I called the store back to complain, and they said "I want to make sure that they get it right next time." I said "There won't be a next time, this is the second time you guys have screwed up on me in a row. I'm never ordering from you guys again." He said "That's fine." That's fine?!?! A customer just told you you have lost them due to your bad service and you say "That's fine?" Two minutes after I hung up, I received a phone call from the cook who had screwed up our food, and he berated me for saying that he had made it wrong (we had given instructions for "extra this, no that" that he had screwed up) and that there was no way my food had gotten cold because he had made it once the driver had walked in the door. This is ludicrous. I'm not one of those "the customer is always right" types, but seriously? You don't argue with your customers when you screw up. You apologize and ask "how can I make this right?" I'm sick of giving Ahmo's the opportunity to make things right. TL;DR: Only get food from these guys if you're eating in. Never never never rely on them...
Read moreYesterday, I had a craving for gyros. I looked online around 8:30 PM, but every place that sells them was already closed — except Amhos. I called while on my way back from Westland (I live in Ypsilanti). It was 8:36 PM, and I knew they closed at 9. The employee who answered asked if I could be there in 10 minutes. I said no, but I’d definitely be there before closing. He sounded annoyed but said fine.
I placed an order for two gyro combos, which came with two drinks. When I arrived, he handed me the food, but never mentioned the drinks — no “don’t forget your drinks” or anything. I ended up having to go back inside to get them. I grabbed a Dr. Pepper and a Diet Coke. When I got home, I noticed the Diet Coke had Santa on it — it was clearly old and expired in January 2025. Then I realized there was no tzatziki sauce in the bag — which is basically the whole point of a gyro. I was frustrated. They were already closed, so I called the next day and happened to speak with the same guy. He barely let me talk and just said, “Next time, I’ll give you two sauces.” I told him that wasn’t enough — the meal was ruined. He sarcastically replied, “Okay, fine, I’ll give you two dollars then.” No apology, no accountability.
I said I felt like they should replace the order since the sauce is the main part of the sandwich. He flat-out refused and acted like I was asking for too much. Between the expired drink, the missing sauce, and his rude attitude, I won’t be going back. Amhos just...
