Played this course on 9/16 with a friend. I will start with the positives. The course layout is challenging and bunkers everywhere someone such as myself would land. So I enjoyed the challenge. I liked that the carts were in working order and were comfortable. So many times at courses some of the carts are jerky, and you wonder if you might not make it back to the clubhouse .
The opportunities for the course to evaluate as a whole: If your going to have bunkers make sure they are playable. I landed in so many bunkers that had looked as if someone poured gravel into them and had scratched and dinged my new callaway wedge up so I did not choose to play out of them the rest of the round
The greens were in very poor shape some due to fungus, some due to people not following golf etiquette and repairing ball divots. But several also were looking like at one point someone might have mowed to short and burnt a portion of the green up.
3.Overall the fairways were decent but a lot of dry bare spots almost hitting out of dirt. Not to mention it seems there not running any preventative spraying because lots of weeds in the fairways.
4.Clubhouse Overall when we made the turn the hotdogs were ready or wraps which were good to see. However the beverage cooler had about 3 choices in it and only about 3 in total for each so was a little confused as to why there was such short inventory on beverages.
Ending notes:
Overall I would play here again if it meant me getting on for $30 as I did on Thursday. But this course is not a $65 course like they want on the weekends. Not even a $40 quality “At this time”! For the weekday. Several other NEW Era Affiliated courses like this one are in much better shape. With me playing two times a week all year long my hope is that this review doesn’t deter others to play here, but allows the consumer to know what there paying for and the experience they will receive....
Read moreVery disappointed in the shape the course was in for a $75 weekday round. Many of the greens had massive dying spots and you rarely got a putt that was without issues. They are also in the process of removing a lot of bunkers which is clear that they’re just trying to cut maintenance costs. Tee boxes were burnt up and very dry making it hard to even get a tee in. This is a course that has a great layout but way too high of a price tag for the upkeep. It’s a $45 course that thinks it’s more expensive. If they were reinvesting these higher greens fees into the course it would be well worth it but it seems like they are looking to maximize profit and are just assuming that the golfers will come regardless. This course is less quality than Willow Run and St Albans and they have much more realistic greens fees. Also be careful that with the price you see online. You must book the tee time online to get the price listed. They said “oh that’s dynamic pricing online and we have fixed pricing in the pro shop” I’m sorry, what? Just say you charge more in person - we all know what you’re doing and wanting us to give you a credit card online.
I do not recommend playing here unless you can play for $45 or less until they reinvest into the greens.
PS - there were no rangers/marshalls and we played 18 holes in nearly 5 hours while waiting behind two groups that were extremely...
Read morePlayed this course about 5 years ago and it was very well manicured. Played it this morning and had to write a review.
I was talking the course up to a friend who had never played it. We payed $55 from a deal on golf now which I thought wasn't too bad for being Labor Day. The fairways were decent, I'd say 3/5. The greens were decent as well minus all the divots that went I repaired from others playing, 3/5. The rough was strange, there were strips in it that looked like the people mowing left the deck down or adjusted in the middle of a run (not every hole but more than a couple). The bunkers were atrocious, even the green side bunkers were in poor condition, 1/5. One thing that really bothered me was that one of the grounds crew that was drying the greens drove past us once we had teed off. We were around 100 yards to the green at our balls and he drives onto the green and pulls the pin. In my opinion he should have waited for the gap between us and the group behind us but whatever. Other staff including the starter was great.
This course is the worst of all the New Era courses. May not play it again unless I hear they have gotten the course back to where it once was.
If you're in the area I would suggest Royal American or drive to sunbury/delaware and play bent tree, North Star or glen ross for roughly...
