The atmosphere here is very Sports Bar with a heavy lean to the bar side. Overall a very generic feel to the place.

I came here because I heard they have good burgers. I ordered the Western Burger ($14). This has Cheddar cheese, thick-cut honey-cured bacon, beer battered onion rings, sweet bbq sauce. The burger was good. The meat was tender, however it was far from wow. While the meat was tender it wasn't standout in taste. So definitely above average, just not great. I upgraded the side to a side salad ($2). This time it was very ehh. Not much crunch and just boring, even for a salad. I also ordered the Scotch Eggs ($8.5). These are Hard-boiled eggs wrapped in pork sausage, coated in breadcrumbs, and fried, served with honey mustard. These were interesting, but also kinda blah. They need something added to them with a little heat. The person I was with ordered the Black and Bleu Burger ($14). This consisted of a Blackened patty, gorgonzola crumbles, thick-cut honey-cured bacon, mayo. The Burger was declared to be okay, but bland. This was surprising for a black & blue burger. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare though.

The service again was okay. It was friendly and they tried. It was just inefficient. At one point mustard was asked for and we ended up having to ask another waitress for it. However my drink refills were well done.

Overall a 3 1/2 star review. I debated whether to round up or down. However there were too many things of note. So my final grade is 3 stars. Would I return? Sadly no. It is obvious this is a popular place, and maybe it was just a bad day. However there are too many choices for great burgers. This is a...

Fries were awesome, burger ok, service a mixed bag.

Vestal Burger: Ordered medium-rare and it came that way all juicy. Toppings were good. The bun had a thick, slightly leather-like texture. It was not terrible, but meh.

Seasoned Beer-Battered Fries: These are (ironically) the star of the show! Thinner cut (my preference), seasoned just right, with a battered crispy outer texture added to a mildly fluffy inside. They came and stayed quite warm. Get them!

Chips and Salsa: Good. Slightly on the salty and spicy side, but only a little. I enjoyed them all the same.

All Beef Burrito: My friend had it and didn't have any complaints.

Experience: We came on a Thursday 6-7pm evening. We were greeted fairly quickly and given menus. Ordering was also quick and the food came reasonably quick as well.

We were serviced by three different people at each stage so it was a bit difficult to know who to flag down when needed. Getting our check took a while and we ended up just leaving the money at the table because no one came back immediately.

There were so many screens on the wall, I doubt you could fit another one. It was also quite noisy/loud and difficult to talk. The lighting was also a little on the darker side.

They do have pool tables.

All in all, I'd...

We have driven by The Vestal Inn so many times and the parking lot always seems curiously busy. I would forget about this place, as it doesn't come up when you are googling Restaurants, because it's a Bar. I am so glad we finally called them to order lunch today. Their blended cuts of meat in the burgers are delicious, and the patty is a great size. The Nantucket Sourdough bread for the Patty melt is perfect so you can appreciate the flavors of the other ingredients. We were also very pleased with the seasoning and crispness of the fries, and that was after they'd sat in the to-go container for 5-10 minutes before we could eat them. We will absolutely be getting burgers from them again. We only gave 4 stars, because we didn't eat in, and ordered to-go. We would rate the food alone 5...

Dive bar with quality food, great prices and plenty of hometown regulars. The Vestal is well known by locals for it's consistency. Don't read into that. The draw to the Vestal is the simplicity in everything. In an industry full of changing menus, fluctuating prices, and declining service, the Vestal provides comfort in sticking to what it does best. You cannot go wrong with the burrito or the burger. Plenty of bar games for gamblers and billiards as well. Don't miss the chance to stop in if you love the dive bar scene.
