Been coming here for years (work and personal) and was very disappointed with experience we had recently. Dinner at 6 pm, restaurant not crowded at all, maybe 6 tables. We were told we had two waiters, only ever saw one...but he took a good 10 minutes to come and take the drink order. When water came asked for lemon, never came back with lemon. 1 glass of wine and 1 scotch on the rocks took about 10-15 mins to arrrive. Waiter was very lack luster, never picked up on us needing refills of anything. Order our meals and wait another 15 mins for a salad and soup. Again, no checking to ask if we would like another cocktail.this is my favorite part.... Server who delivered salad and soup places down salad, puts bowl of soup down in front of me and tosses, yes tosses the spoon onto the table and darts off. I was so stunned, I thought did he really just do that? Soup was so spicy- not sure why acorn squash bisque was spicy and lukewarm at best. Wedge salad had no dressing on it. So we wait for waiter to come by to ask how are the starters, never happened. 15 mins go by and we just tell the waiter take this we are done and the salad had no dressing. Takes the two dishes and again, we have empty glasses and no request for refill. We had 1 cocktail each at this point. Another 15 mins and the steaks arrive....husbands is cooked correctly at medium. I ordered medium well and it was rare. So here we go again, waiter never asked cut into steak, make sure it’s how it should be, luckily he came back with spoons for the sides so it was only 5 mins I had to wait to tell him to take it back. A manager now comes by, we tell him how it’s going, he says it will be perfect from here on out..steak comes back with manager and it’s a well done hockey puck, as I predicted.....so $50 filet is charred. Now I know you shouldn’t order above medium but I do, however I don’t ask for well done. Sides were again lukewarm, average. So we ask them to take food away and get us our check. ( we asked the nice lady clearing our table) she said she would get our waiter right away....well 15 mins later a different General Manager shows up and doesn’t even know the whole story...says I understand the steak was undercooked and the spoon tossing. They are not communicating at all in the back, so he takes bill and removes my steak and the salad. Then gives us a $25 card to use by 3/30 from Valentine’s Day-stated on the card..and brings two glasses of champagne and cheesecake to go with modified bill..how about you take the free stuff we don’t want to eat or drink and take that off the $150 bill! Ruth Chris is not cheap and if you want to charge prices like this, you better have a good service to go with it. Plenty of staff walking by and I am sure they noticed and said nothing, come on guys team effort. Other waiters and waitresses in our area were hands down 100% better then our guy who we could see had one other table of 4 besides us, who came after us! Enjoy that $150.00 because we...
Read moreLoved it/ Average in ways. Fixed menu option Essay: First time at a Ruth Chris for my bday. Table for two. Fairly busy Saturday night. 7pm reservation. I've been wanting to try Ruth Chris for years. Started off with the crab stuffed mushroom appetizer. They were large and very tasty. The crab meat is mainly on the minced side. Small chunks here and there. Lump meat would maybe take these to the next level? 3.5 out of 5 stars on this. I liked them. Got the fixed menu. Starter, entre, and desert. Filet and shrimp entre. Started with the French onion soup of the day. The wine reduction overpowered the soup, imo. I learned that it's not house made. It was like eating a french onion wine soup with almost enough but not enough onions in it. I'd give this a 2 out of 5. I didn't care to finish it. Next up, the filet and shrimp and upgraded it to an 11oz. The filet was good and perfectly cooked to medium as asked, but it was seared a little too long i think. By the time you get toward the end while it's cooking on a 500° plate, the last oz or so is overcooked, and getting dry. The sear was very dark. However, it's was tender and tasty through most of it. It was a slightly above average filet. 3.5 out of 5. I'm not a regular of filet mignon or an expert so this might have been perfert to someone else. My friend got the ribeye and lobster tail. Both were excellent. Good size lobster tail and the ribeye was great at medium temp. 4 of 5 for the ribeye and lobster tail. The garlic mashed potatoes were good. The texture was a bit thin and a little above average taste. 3 of 5 The three shrimp it came with were perfectly grilled and a good size. Very tasty. Only 3 shrimp though? 4 of 5 We also got a side of creamed spinach. My friend LOVED it. The cheesecake desert with the fixed menu is small, but it was really good. 3.5 of 5
Our server Christian was great! Very attentive and prompt. Everyone else was very nice and professional. The manager did her rounds on the tables for a quick chat, making sure everyone was happy. So nice to see. The atmosphere was very pleasant and perfectly dimmed. Table and place settings were clean and perfectly set.
My first time impression is that it's a very good dining experience. The food overall that I had was a little below expectations for what you pay. Service and atmosphere is excellent and is probably what you're paying for over the excellence of the food. The food is really good, but don't expect to be blown away the first time there for what you pay. I can only speak on the food we got on that particular day. I would go back to have the experience again. Thank you Christian our server, and to my dear long time friend who took me here for...
Read moreThis was the first time my wife and I have gone to Ruth's Chris Steak House. Our kids had given us two gift certificates, so we planned on a nice enjoyable dinner. We arrived at 8.05pm for an 8.15pm reservation. We were told that it would be closer to 8.15pm, so we told them we would have a drink at the bar. We were told they would come for us when the table was ready. Still waiting at 8.35pm, we had two seats at the bar so decided to stay at the bar. Another couple standing next to us had a reservation for 8.15pm as well, but weren't seated until 8.50pm. 8.55pm we placed our order, started with an appetizer and ordered the 'Porterhouse for two'. We asked if we could change the sides that came with the meal, and were told for an 'up charge', it could be done. We were fine with this. 15 minutes later, our appetizer came out, (Calamari). This was very good. 30 minutes later, our bartender had come over to let us know that they did not have any porterhouse left. Seriously!? A steak house that ran out of porterhouse!? We decided on a t'bone steak for myself, (Rare) and my wife ordered lamb chops, (Medium rare). 10.10pm, our meals arrived. The two meats, and a side of brussels sprouts and potatoes au gratin. The potatoes, looked and tasted like they were forgotten then 'whipped up' last minute, being undercooked and the potatoes still a little hard. I could only eat 3/4 of my steak because there was grizzly through out the steak. My wife's lamb chops were no where near medium rare. So tough, she couldn't cut them to eat the without a struggle. We asked for a steak knife, and they didn't have one. They brought another knife, just like the one that my wife had, hoping it was sharper. No such luck. It was 10.45pm, and the smell of cleaning products put the 'icing on the cake'. No dessert for us. We had enough. What we anticipated to be a nice, day after, Valentine's dinner, turned in to an extremely disappointing night. A manager from the restaurant was in contact with me to try to resolve the issues on February 20th. A gift certificate was to be sent to us to come back to try to experience this location again, to show us that this is not the normal experience when dining with them. A call from a regional manager was to be expected within 2 to 3 days. It is now March 8th, and neither has happened. This just shows how important customer service really is to them. We will be going back to Char or Wolfgang's for a true steak dinner...
