I got several things for my Mom and I to try. One thing I loved was the fish tacos. I get fish tacos at most restaurants and food trucks if they have it. The fish was not battered and just grilled to perfection. The mayo based sauce was a perfect addition to elevate the flavor. I personally like something with a slight bit of crunch in my fish taco.
We also got the tacos al pastor. A lot of the places I have eaten cook the meat with the pineapple. This place didn't. They grilled the pineapple separately. They were good but adding pineapple makes the meat more tender. Also, I don't know if this is an option but if they added a light mixture of diced white onion, lime juice and cilantro this taco would immediately be a favorite.
Their salsa was fresh. I literally ate the salsa by the spoonful. Now I am not a huge tomato fan but this was pureed and balanced. It was also nice and cold which I feel is a must. The chips were great. I hate going places that over salt the chips or make them so thin you cant eat your salsa.
We also got charro beans. I have tried charro at several different places. I think one thing with any Mexican restaurant is the pinto beans. I eat pinto where ever I go. Charro beans have bacon or meat in the beans with onions and spices. They vary a bit place to place. These had a good pork underlying flavor and the beans were still beans and not mush. So perfect in my book. There were chucks of bacon and hot dogs. Yum!
We also got the chile Colorado. This was not my my favorite I tried it but it wasn't for me. I am not a big red sauce fan. It had a small bit of heat which was fine but I thought there was something missing and couldn't put my finger on it.
All in all, I...
Read moreMy husband and I eat there at least once a month and have never had a problem like we did tonight. We got sat down and ordered what we normally do so no need to look at the menu. They where not very busy so we figure not much wait time since the large party near us had already eaten and had moved on to celebrate with there cake. We finally got our food and it was correct but our rice and beans where cold so we told the waiter and he said I don't know and left so after waiting 5 minutes we found another water who brought our drinks out and asked him and he said ok and took the beans but only my husband. Okay fine then we waited and he didn't eat his food that was hot because he wanted his beans and rice it go with it. After waiting for either waiter to come back for over 15 minutes he brought back the beans on the same plate with a scoop taken out where my husband took a bite when the first came out. Well the beans where hot but you can tell they just pipes them in the microwave because parts had bubbled and the top was hard. So we spoke to the manager and he tried to blame the large part but we pointed out the table was cleared of most plate as they where finished eating and in to cake. The manager offered 20% off with my husband said no thank you I had to wait for my beans and rice which now my main course is cold so keep the food and take it of my bill. Story short if we would have got our beans and rice brought to our table the second time hot and not microwaved all could have been avoided but he wanted to go to cheaper out and have...
Read moreI couldn’t believe I found good Mexican food in Plattsmouth! I’m pretty critical about Mexican food since I only go out to get it when I’m feeling too lazy to make it myself. La Fiesta is legit. Great chips and salsa to start, a fast and attentive service from the waitress that took care of us and she gave us her own recommendation of favorite dishes. I had chili relleno, chili verde and chili Colorado, the triple threat dish and it was right for flavor and equally important, textures for such dishes. Everyone else in our party of 4 was also pleasantly satisfied with the food choices and we all agreed it was better than a few other places throughout Omaha and Bellevue. Stop in a get a booth at La Fiesta for some good Mexicano food to curb your hungry. We will be back again soon to continue working our way through the...
