El Fogon Mexican Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Pleasant Valley Township

My niece had called a couple days prior to make a reservation for 17 to celebrate my brothers birthday. When we arrived at 2,pm the tables were not properly set up! Even after calling the morning of and yet to arrive to this! When i approached the manager he gave me a very short, pathetic excuse saying they didn't take reservations during the weekend even after we called twice and were told it wouldnt be a problem. He didnt even bother to try assist us nor apologize for the inconvenience, in fact, he looked very bothered that i approaced him. The food was not worth the price, margaritas were water down and for almost $18 each! I ordered steak fajitas which was reheated not fresh steak, how do I know this?? My family owns a restaurant in the Quad cities going on 31 years, so yes, I know when food has been reheated! My brother spit up a huge piece of fatty steak really? We decided to come in and try El Fogon for the first time. Heard many great reviews about this place. 4 of us got there around 3:30. Building is very nice inside and out. Tons of seating. Tina was our waitress. She greeted us went over the Taco Tray special, Which we ordered. We asked for 1 extra Steak taco and 1 extra pastor taco. So we got 3 steak, 2 chicken, 2 pastor, 2 carnitas, and 1 Chorizo. My wife and I split a 27oz blue raspberry Margarita, My brother in law ordered 2 Modelo's and 3 softshell tacos. My father in law had a Raspberry Ice tea & Horchata. His meal was the El Grande which was MASSIVE. All four of us were blown away by how good the food was. So much flavor. I ordered the chefs special homemade hot sauce. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Tina was also a fantastic waitress. I guarantee we will be back!! Decided to try the new Mexican Bar & Grill in Bettendorf, for a drink and appetizer. We were greeted immediately and seated quickly, but after that we could not get anyone's attention to order drinks. Another couple came in, were seated, order taken and drinks delivered before someone ever came to take our drink order. We order the queso fundido and when it arrived it was like a runny soup, tried to eat it with the chips but it never thickened up. Waiter explained that is the way they serve it, but what we received and what is shown in recipes on the internet are two different things.
