My friend and I were driving back from the Outer Banks, when we decided to grab breakfast at Bojangles, since I have never tried the North Carolinian establishment, despite living here for several years. Although many of my friends swear by this infamous chain and its numerous chicken offerings, I will never return after the horrible first impression I formed from visiting the Plymouth location. The lady who took our order through the drive-thru speaker had a difficult time hearing us, despite our practically screaming out the window— this is not necessarily her fault, if it was based on a technical issue, but it was certainly not ours either, and she was quite rude about her inability to hear us. She put something we did not order (a ham/egg/cheese biscuit) onto the order, and gave us difficulty when we requested to remove that before driving away. Finally, we verified the correct order, and went to the window to pay. After receiving our food, we pulled to the side to inspect. I had ordered a gravy biscuit, but received a container of gravy and a noticeable lack of biscuit. We waited in line again, and when we told her we were missing an item, she told us (in a very rude tone) to drive back to the window. We were not at all upset with her, but when we came to the window and explained that we were missing a biscuit, she was immediately incredibly hostile, and said we hadn't ordered that, we had only ordered gravy, and she knew, because she had taken our order. We were honestly taken aback by the hostility, but we explained that we had indeed ordered it, and that it was on the receipt. The lady said the receipt was wrong then, and that she didn't know why it was on the receipt (and if the receipt was wrong... that was still not our fault???) When we explained that it was on the receipt because that was what we had ordered, she walked away, and very loudly said something about "she thinks she has a smart mouth"— with the window wide open! She finally dropped off a bag with the biscuit and scoffed when we thanked her, refusing to say anything, and walking away. I work in a restaurant and never assume it is a service worker's fault. We were not upset about the simple mistake, we just wanted to receive the correct food (which we had paid for) before leaving. I have no idea why she took the issue so personally and thought we were out to get her. I have never had a service worker be so incredibly rude before, and I will not be returning.
Also, perhaps most importanly, the food...

You never know who is spending money in your establishment, but regardless treating everyone with kindness & courtesy improves service levels and shows that you care about each customer who patrons your business. I came through the drive thru, I was repeatedly interrupted while attempting to place my order. I was advised that it would take 15 minutes for my order to be ready because there were no wings available. I graciously waited 17 minutes before walking inside to see where my order was. I was told, "I'm sorry ma'am, he didn't drop the chicken when he was asked to." So my immediate reaction was "cancel my order." I overheard, "Oh she doesn't want to wait?" The young ladies working the front register and line were very nice. One of them said, "No she's already been waiting 20 minutes." But I was very hungry and tired. I had just driven almost 4 hours. So I decided to let them redeem themselves. I asked them to substitute my wings for supremes, and then substitute the other order with a breast and leg, plus the sides (the sides on my order were fresh fries and dirty rice). So I waited patiently for approximately another 15 minutes only for the order to be wrong ... no supremes, no chicken leg, no fries. Then to be met with rudeness "Well what do you want ma'am? Because you initially ordered..." I said "yes, I know what I initially ordered & I asked for it to be replaced with supremes & a leg." She walked off while I was still speaking & I just took a deep breath, closed my eyes and calmly said, "You know what please just give me my fries, my chicken leg, and your manager's name. It is okay, I will just take this." My thought is this: the customer service level was poor today. I have stopped at this location numerous times while traveling away from the island & back home to the island. Everyone is usually pretty helpful and nice... but today was different. I chose to spend my money at your establishment, as many people do. Thank you for fresh, hot fries upon my request. However, I am annoyed at how my order was mishandled, followed by how rude one of your employees was. Personally, I probably should have requested my money back and to receive my food complimentary. My money and time are valuable. But I do not want free food, or my money back. I want your service levels to improve. So that maybe you don't upset a food critic or writer again, such as myself ... or anyone else for...
Read moreThis location is the most sorry, and rude Bojangles I've ever visited. We were traveling after cleaning out the office of a family member that had passed. We were starving and stopped in at 9:20pm. There was a girl mopping when we walked in. She was huffing and puffing like she was going to lose her mind. She asked if we are taking the food Togo, I asked when they close and she said 10pm. I told her we were eating inside, she then asked us to sit at a particular table in the back corner. It was obvious she was upset with us. Horrible attitude. We asked what was fresh and she said nothing was fresh, hoping we would leave. Then she said they didn't have fries and couldn't make any. Then after we got our food we sat at the table she asked us to. While we are eating she proceeded to yell back to the kitchen staff talking about us eating in the dinning room and yelling at them saying they should have closed the doors. Then the next person came in, and she started the whole process again, and told them they had to take it to-go. All the blinds were pulled as well. I've never experienced such a worthless visit to Bo's. Do they even have a manager? Does anyone care? Who's the owner? They all need to know...
