Went here for dinner because it was the only choice on the resort. I waited almost 45 minutes to be served while 5 tables inside were empty. I was dining alone. I was told that they're backed up with orders in the kitchen & that's why I had to wait so long. My Asian ribs were very fatty. I didn't finish them. I waited almost 20 minutes for someone to notice that I was finished eating. I had empty, dirty dishes on the table & was turned around in my chair, facing the path that the staff were walking through. These are clear signs that a customer wants their check. I had several employees pass me by without even a glance my way, catering to multi-party customers. As a lone diner, I find this a common occurrence since my tip would be less than tables with more people. If I could've walked out from the beginning & go somewhere else, I would have. A customer is a customer & should be treated the same as a multi- person table. Management sent me a response & asked me to give them another chance. I went back 2 nights later with a friend. Again, the restaurant inside had only 2-3 tables of customers. We were seated immediately, asked what we wanted to drink & got them in a timely manner. However, it took the waitress 20 minutes to take our order & another 30 minutes to get our food. Two tables of customers who came after us got their food before us. When we asked the waitress why it's taking so long for our food when two other tables got theirs, she said that the kitchen was backed up with orders (the same excuse I got the last time). She also said it's Sunday & the regular kitchen staff aren't there. The cook tonight isn't as good as their regular cook. Once we got our food 5 minutes later, my friend's black bean burger was tasty but the lettuce, tomatoes & sauce were missing. I ordered my chicken wings with barbeque sauce on the side. I got blue cheese on the side. The wings were chewy & rubbery to the point that I couldn't finish my meal. My jaw was too sore to chew anymore. The waitress was apologetic & took the drinks & wings off the check. Clearly, the core issues of this place continue. I recommend that if someone's staying at Poland Springs has a car, go outside the resort for...
Read moreBy early afternoon , we were hungry for a good lunch. We stopped at Mel's Hilltop restaurant , not knowing what we would find. Although they were open they were reasonably empty. This place is like a nineteenth hole restaurant overlooking the golf course and we were not quite so sure how good the food would be. We were greeted and seated instantly. They took drink orders and we ordered sandwiches. Our food seemed to come out instantly! The highlight of my lunch were the hand dipped onion rings, highly recommended. Not only were the sandwiches great tasting , but they were huge! The prices were reasonable and they did have a full bar for your enjoyment pleasure. If you are near Poland Springs this is the place to...
Read moreHiked the trail around the golf course then my husband and I got to the restaurant and waited 5 mins before we were seated, then waited another 10 mins before they asked what we wanted to drink, then the waitress never came back and then another waitress gave us menus and and then didn’t come back and we waited over 30 mins before we asked about drinks (just needed water) and she was busy and we just left. Lack of communication, wasn’t even busy and the people who came in right before us and after us were served drinks, given menus and placed orders before we were even acknowledged. Service was very poor and we literally could have waited longer if we had...
