I was very excited to try the Finley Point Grill as I was told it is one of the better places in the area. We had a rsvp but came early and decided to eat at the bar. I ordered the cowboy ribeye medium rare. My friend ordered the chicken piccata. As you can see from the pic (Middle of the steak), my dish was not medium rare. The outside of the steak was well done with no pink and dry to the taste. The server didn’t ask until I was well into the dish, as I was hungry, how was it… nor did they know how to make a Manhattan. But it worked based on my week. But what made me write this review was more around the drunk patron (employee) that clearly knew people and was buying shots for many. He offered my friend and I drinks twice. He asked, ā€œHow was my steak?ā€ I said, ā€œIt was over cooked.ā€ He asked how did you order it and I shared medium rare. He said it was medium rare and he was a cook there. Totally disregarding the obvious. Then asking where I was from, like that mattered. Anyone that eats steaks regularly can clearly look at my take home (for my dog) and know this is not medium rare. Then he dared to blame because I’m originally from Pa, I do not know what a medium rare steak looks like. He has no idea where I’ve eaten in this world. šŸ˜‚ This obvious employee was drunk and an embarrassment to the establishment. What could have made this a better experience... 1. A medium rare steak. 2. The opportunity to have it corrected in a timely matter. 3. The bartender knowing how to make a Manhattan. 4. No drunk employees at the bar when not on the clock. This was a steak I would have expected at a diner at $14 not $44. In addition, my friend’s piccata was, let’s just say not worth taking home. Perhaps a bad night or perhaps the drunk cook is better in the kitchen than at the bar.

We used to live at Dayton 30-40 yrs ago, yet had never been to FPG. We won't make that mistake. This is the finest dining experience around the lake! The service was exceptional, (thanks, Janay!)ⁿ & spot-on when plates needed to be removed, water replenished, the dessert was brought. We began with bread & an oil/balsamic dip. Very good starter! Salads were red leaf, arugula (spring mix) with dried cranberries & chopped pecans. The coconut shrimp was Crispy large prawns & quite tasty. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection at my requested medium rare, served with a properly prepared baked potato. The skin was fully edible, a bit seared & super good. It was served with sautéed squash, zucchini & yellow, also superb. We topped it off with NY style cheesecake topped with berries.

The crusted pecans were delicious and gave the salmon dish a really interesting texture profile. The sauce and potatoes were equally divine! Really the only thing that held me back from a five star rating is that my food came too quickly. I had barely finished our bread and had just gotten my salad when the entrees came. It felt like the whole experience was rushed. I like to savor the moment when in a fine dining setting. This experience took all of about a half hour. It took longer to drive here than to get my food. I just wanted to savor it, and would definitely had ordered dessert and coffee if I hadn't felt rushed to get through.

We ate at the Finley Point Grill last September during our annual Montana month and we thought it was very good. We decided to go back this September. We thought it was even better.

We (4 of us) had reservations for 5:30 on a Saturday night. It was a good thing we did because they were busy. We were seated immediately at a 4-top, one bench and two chairs. Our waitress, Lisa, was very quick with water, menus, and taking drink orders. I ordered a Martini, Dan ordered a beer, and the girls ordered a bottle of wine. The wine list was surprisingly varied and good. As an alternative to the wines on the list, Lisa gave us a choice of four wines on special that night. We chose a 2015 Willamette Valley Dundee Pinot Noir. It turned out to be excellent, as was my Martini (up, well shaken, icy cold, 3 olives, yumm).

The menu lists a variety of dishes, all of them sounded like they would be delicious. But our order was a no-brainer—we came for the prime rib (available Friday and Saturday only). Both couples split an 8-ounce prime rib. We had ours medium rare with a Caesar salad and a baked potato with butter and sour cream. The other couple ordered their prime rib medium (I cringed, but oh well) with a chopped salad and two baked potatoes.

The salad with a creamy Caesar dressing and shaved Parmesan, was exceptional. I could go there to make a meal of just that. Our prime rib was cooked perfectly, was very tender and flavorful, and the au jus and horseradish sauce were perfect with it. They provided a second warm plate for us to split the order.

Desert was a chocolate concoction that we shared. Amazing.

What a wonderful evening out—the food, the ambience and the service were all great. Lisa made the evening exceptional. She was terrific.

As an aside, they do have two 6-top tables with two benches each, but you have to request those when you make...

We have eaten at Finley point many times and we have never been as unhappy as we are tonight. First of all, we went In after 7:30pm when valentines dinner rush ended. We had reservations and waited 10 min to be seated (not a big deal they just had a rush) but then we sat at our table for over 25min before our server even acknowledged us. Then when he finally did, we had to ask him if we could get drinks, he didn't even bring us water. He never once came to our table, we had to flag him down every-time. He didn't even ask how our food was after delivering it and we didn't even get offered 1 refill. We even placed our glasses on the edge of the table and Nothing. Our food, the appetizer was good, we had calamari. For our main courses we ordered a steak and shrimp Alfredo. The steak was great, the Alfredo was garbage. It came with 6 giant prawns mixed in (heads, antennas, everything) the meat was literally mush, you couldn't even twist the meat out with out all this nasty water going everywhere and it was disgusting taking a bite and chewing an antenna that was stuck to a noodle. The whole prawn was a little much. We didn't even finish it. We might have over looked all this if our waiter even checked on us. Usually the service and food is great. Tonight we were extremely let down, for a steak and seafood joint, the seafood was...
