My husband and I decided to go out for breakfast this morning. I wanted a beachfront view. Found this place on google and decided to give it a chance. We really did not know what to expect but, hey its on the beach. The hotel lobby looked and smelled fantastic. While we made our way out the doors towards the beach i felt a sense of vacation hitting me lol.
We arrived at the Tiki Hut at 10 am the hostess was pleasant she showed us to our seats, so far so good. We looked at the menu, enjoyed the ambiance for a while. 10:15am no one came to find out if we wanted drinks or if we wanted water (its very hott and humid outside). At 1025am i saw the same hostess and asked her if anyone was going to take our order, she looked at me in shock that no one came to our table as yet, by this time im a bit annoyed and i wanted to leave but my husband coaxed me into staying. At 1030am the server came to our table, and she did apologize for the long wait. She told us that she was not informed that she had a table waiting. Anyways we ordered what supposed to have been breakfast is not brunch/lunch. We placed our orders and, yes, we waited again (which i don't mind waiting for food). By 11am our food came out. My husband ordered the shrimp pineapple salad, and i ordered the lobster avacado toast and an order of ice cream battered french toast to share.
Critique on the food, my toast was soggy, i had ordered over easy egg (server recommendation), the egg was cold, but you know what i was hungry. The french toast was warm and nice. My husband salad was good, he like it.
Drinks, so like i had said before its hot and humid in Florida we got served our waters eventually and in 2 mins the ice melted, no one came and asked us if we would like a refill nothing. I ordered a Mimosa (i really thought that the server would have tried to upsell the popsicle Mimosa, but she did not, oh well) and my husband ordered a coffee. The server was pleasant, I really did not have much to say to her or to the other staff.
The service industry is really declining. I really wanted to enjoy my meal but that soggy toast was horrible but i did eat it. The lobster and egg was ok. I just wished that they would have toasted by bread last and cooked my egg last so at least it would have still been warm when it arrives at the table.. The presentation of the meals were impeccable.
The lack of communication between the server and hostess is terrible. However, a large group came in about 30 mins after us and a server did go a acknowledge them and bought out waters for them and He Was Not Their Server, our server was their's, so i observed. If that did not happen i might not have made this post. Im the service industry, greet (which the hostess did) acknowledge which no one did not even the guys in the grey polos did, they were also some servers inthe yellow/gold polos were standing by the hostess booth on their phones, not one acknowledged us or asked if we wanted water. Lol i have to laugh because these young people could make or break anyone's business.
Despite the service being horrible and the food being ok. The ambiance was incredibly its really nice, and breezy.
The restrooms are very clean and classy, just had to squeeze that in.
Would i go back, im not sure. My husband said i just give it another try. I might. For me i do not mind the food being ok but i look at how good the service is. I might go back because it was a nice place. Im still thinking about it. But if i do ill let yall know how it went.
(Normally when i go to restaurants i tend to order many items on the menu but this morning after that...
Read moreIt was our first and favorite restaurant since we moved here January 2021, we were here 5 times in a week!! The food is fantastic, the margarita i had was extremely small though and very pricey, so i opted for wine other times or mimosas, the live music is always great, atmosphere is excellent. Only reason I gave it 4 and then edited it to 3 stars is because of the service, it just got worse with every visit. Although the staff is very nice and works hard, the wait to get a drink had been too long, i waited for my drink 20 minutes the second night we went and the salad came after the meal but we had to ask for it because it was forgotten. I asked about the bottomless mimosas because I wanted a 3rd but the waitress said she only charged me less because it was only 2, that's not what I was asking, i wanted bottomless so I could get a 3rd, she quickly left with the tab, i was very bummed because I have had better service in the past week but the worst was the past two times we went for dinner and got another waitress. She literally messed up our entire meal the first night. She forgot lettuce for the salad we asked her for, she forgot the crab sauce on my fresh catch, brought it on the side when my fish was cold already, it just wasn't the same. I gave her a pass cause she was new but the second time we got her she got half the stuff wrong. I told her no sauce on my brussels, they were drenched in the sauce, she never comped it and she should have because we could not eat the dish. I ordered 4 overpriced margaritas but i was aware of that, the worst part was i asked for a grand manier floater and come to find out she charged me $10 a float, it is not even a shot! and that was aside from the $13 tiny margarita and i asked for salt every time, every time it came out without salt, it was a disaster!!! The weird thing is she wrote down everything it seemed! It was my fault i did not complain right there and then, i just wanted to get out of there so bad and our company that we brought with us were quiet upset that i did not talk to a manager. We live right across the street and haven't been back in weeks. Our resident friends feel the same about the service, I hope a manager or owner is paying attention to these reviews because alot of business is being lost and that's too bad because we thought this would be our...

The resort itself is beautiful, and the tiki bar and restaurant is quant and charming. We chose to have dinner on the beach, the view is awesome. They have a gentleman who plays soothing music while you dine.
We ordered the calamari and bison burger with fries, with a few cocktails. The atmosphere was enough to make us happy, but the staff is what really made our day.
Being guests of the hotel we didn't know a thing to do in the area. Shawna/Shannon(? Sorry I'm terrible names) and William step up to the plate. Both were friendly and charming and when I asked them for advice on our trip they went above and beyond... Even going as far as to draw a map for us to follow to some of the local "treasures". We are very grateful - thank you both.
As a critic I do have a few suggestions.
The artist who plays during dinner. His breaks seem to last quite a while which takes the mood away from an almost perfect evening. Perhaps two artists who can alternate would be appropriate - you know, just to keep the spirit alive.
Mix it up a bit. The food was good, but the only reason we didn't return the other two nights we were in town was a real lack of variety. Maybe mix it up with seasonal and unique menus.
We really wanted to experience cocktails on your outdoor sofas and bonfire tables, but sadly we were lead to believe, after asking of course, that the firepits were "broken".
If that's the case - you should get them fixed... If not - you stole a moment from us which felt more like management didn't want to deal with getting them up and running.
Overall, your restaurant was a delight and we are very happy to have experienced what you had to...
