Taco John's — Restaurant in Poplar Bluff

Peak quality is an easy 5 stars, worst experience was probably 2 stars, bad experiences are pretty rare at most locations.

The quality is generally better than Taco Bell. You can taste the difference. If you like ingredients that don't look like they were blended together, Taco John's is a clear winner. The Super Burrito (also has black olives by default) vs the Burrito Supreme is a great example.

However, at this particular location, the ingredients aren't always as warm as I'd like, getting cold on a less than 5 min drive. I have never had that problem at the one in Cape Girardeau. But, anything that gets grilled or fried is going to be a safe bet even during slow hours. During lunch and dinner hours, it's usually all great.

Their mild sauce is extremely mild for those with sensitive stomachs, and if you like heat, ask about their super hot sauce, they don't have packets of it (it's a mildly chilled, fresh style, green hot sauce), depending on location, they might also have fresh house salsa as an option, usually a mild to medium heat.

Oh, and try the Mexi Rolls (in the 1990s they were tastier and bigger, but still taste sooo good) dipped in nacho cheese or guacamole. I just wish they would bring back their Mexican Pizza (that crust was amazing) and the ORIGINAL Mucho Grande Burrito (super-sized Super Burrito) from the late 1990s, the two times they brought it back, it got smaller, the original was easily a meal for even a hungry teenager at the time (obviously it wouldn't still be around $3 - 3.50 (maybe even $2.50), though a throwback price for a launch week promo would have it selling like crazy for a...

Another Poplar Bluff restaurant destined to fail.

Most of my comments are probably for the national chain as opposed to our local one. I really don't like the fact that I place my order on the app 10 minutes ahead, but they don't start making it until you arrive. What's the point? I want to pull up and get the order that I placed 10 minutes ago. Not wait for you to start putting it together. If I wanted to wait until I got there... I'd place the order at the drive thru. I didn't get free food or discounts for using the app. So why would I use the app again. So you can track my personal info? No thanks. Lesson learned.

Service: The last time that I was there. The kid that handed me my large Dr. Pepper spilled it down the side of my vehicle. No offer of paying to take it through the car wash. No discount. Just oops. Sorry.

Taste test: one morning my wife and I decided to taste test all of the breakfast burritos in town. Taco John's came in last place. Sonic beat out Taco Johns on burritos!!! What? The price difference alone should have made Taco Johns the winner. Pay more. Get less taste.

Portions: I tried the Nacho Crunch Beef Burrito today. This burrito was the size of a hot dog (not including the bun). Tiny burrito. Why they decided to put "crunch" in the title baffles me. My husband and I went to Taco John’s today and when we got to the window the took our money hand us half the order and we had to honk several times to get someone to come to the window so we could tell them that we did not have the whole order. They finally gave us the rest of the order. Well let’s just say that that food was no good I ordered a taco salad that was absolutely disgusting and my husband wanted the potato oles and they were socked in grease. I called them when we got home and they said that I need to bring the food back to them. I told the lady that I live like 30 miles away from there and I was not getting back out she said she would call a manager that had been there longer and she would call me back in 5 mins well that never happened.
