I bought their lasagna, after asking the guy who took my order was their lasagna truly a traditional lasagna. I explained to him how I visited another Italian restaurant in Kalamazoo and ordered their lasagna, and it was just layers of noodles topped with a sauce and mozzarella cheese. He told me, YES, their lasagna was made in the traditional manner that it includes layers of pasta filled with cheese and a meat sauce.
What a DISAPPOINTMENT!!! It was very similar to the lasagna that I bought from the local Italian restaurant. It consisted of just mozzarella cheese and a meat sauce, with very little meat, between the layers of noodles topped with mozzarella cheese that was burnt.
When I expressed my concern to the guy who took my order, which I found out later, was the assistant manager, he told me that was the way they've always made their lasagna. I tried to explain to him that a traditional lasagna includes a ricotta cheese mixture between the layers of noodles then topped with melted mozzarella cheese.
However, he only continued to insist that their lasagna was made in the traditional way. He did not offer to replace it with another menu item.
Since I was very hungry, I just ordered their meatball sub, which was made as I expected. But, I didn't appreciate having to pay for the sub because the lasagna was not made as I expected after I was told that it would be made in the traditional way.
WARNING: If you want to order the lasagna, the only cheese in it is mozzarella. I'm not certain if this is typical of most local Italian restaurants, ...
Read moreCalled to verify they accepted gift cards and that gift cards were usable at any location, they confirmed that with me. I had called because the gift card listed a specific location, but as I was assured it was reciprocal I ignored that concern. Ordered pizza for dinner, came to pick it up and was informed they don’t take gift cards at this location. The worst and most uncomfortable part of all of this is I CAME IN IN PERSON earlier in the day to check the balance of the gift card and place an order for later pick up (I work next door). Not only could they not tell me the balance, the man working the counter said if they couldn’t get the gift card to work, they’d just give the pizza. This is all verbally stated on a closed circuit recording system in their establishment. Upon going to pick up the pizza I’d been thinking about all day I was told they don’t accept gift cards, denied the pizza, and when I explained the situation I was given the oldest excuse in the book, “must’ve been a new employee.” Aside from being overpriced and average, the lack of ability to even serve a pizza properly has earned a 1 star review. I’d have given less since the last employee was such a tool, but Google won’t allow for that. The motto should be “exquisite pricing with...
Read moreThe sandwiches are great, the salads are great, and the pizza is awesome, but the delivery service is awful. My wife and I have been ordering from Jaspare's for a while now and it's to the point that we pretty much accept the fact that something will usually be missing from our order and just that has happened again this evening. I know it's just salad dressing but I payed for it and I expect to receive it with my order when it comes to the door, not an hour later after I have to call and ask for it AGAIN.
When I called, the manager was quick to cut me off and swore up and down that he put the dressing in the bag. He agreed to send the dressing, and when the delivery guy arrived he act like I was inconveniencing him!
Never been to the restaurant but I sure hope the service there is a lot better than what I've received over the years. We have no reason to order from Jaspare's Pizza anymore. It's too bad, it...
