KalakoPizza — Restaurant in Portage

I have not had pizza this good in 40 years and I've eaten a lot if pies all over the world and yes including italy. Was told pickup was at 7, showed up at 7 pizza was ready. Deep dish crust done to beyond perfection. Red sauce spices were spot on old school like what little Cesar's had back before they franchised and old people from Detroit will know exactly what I mean. Fresh herbs and balanced into a symphony of gastric delight.

Also got the smoked wings. The buffalo were ok, but whatever you do dont get the bbq ones and dip them in ranch, your tongue will jump out of your mouth and go swimming in this poultry paradise. The smoke with the sweet bbq and ranch sounds weird right? One of the best food combinations i have ever had. You get 3 completely different but totally complimentary tastes from one bite and one leads into another it isnt all 3 at once. That's hard to achieve in any food.

You know those famous steakhouses in New York where rich people have a standing table on Thursday at 8pm every week and they pay whether they use it or not? Yeah, that good. I will have a standard weekly order and I dont care if I have to book ahead 2 days ahead of time and the pizza ends up late, it's that good.

I cant wait to ruin people for life by getting pizzas from here when they visit from out of town, it's that good. We are in vicksburg so we will pick up on our way home.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up going in and ordering 1 of everything. It sounds like they are going to ruin me for life on their grinders as well, but that's a story for another night. Great job guys.

We ordered a regular pepperoni pizza and cheese bread. Impressive and very tasty. And while I do understand that not all pizza is pizza and that there is a huge difference in pizza between let's say little Caesars, papa johns and frozen pizza, I will tell you that I am not a pizza enthusiast. With that being said, I was very impressed with their pizza. And cheese bread. Highly recommend. Called in my order and picked up without any issues whatsoever.

I stumbled across kalakos completely by accident. I was actually reading local reviews by other contributors on Portage establishments on Google reviews when I came across kalakos. I live maybe a half mile down the street from kalakos and I was unaware that they even existed, yet I pass them everyday when I go to work. From what I understand, kalakos is fairly new, and I think if kalakos were to install a sign or else move the banner closer to the road(if allowed), it would tremendously help get their name and product out there more.......I know everything costs money and I'm not criticizing so much as trying to convey the fact that kalakos is a gem that id be willing to bet a lot , if not most people don't even know about. The building kind of blends in to the others and doesn't stick out. But aside from that, I wish the owners best of luck, and I truly hope to see kalakos grow and thrive, they have...

Cute little shop just getting off the ground and already they’re almost in outer space! This family is hammering out as much pizza as they can muster and you absolutely can taste the love in each bite. Every element of the pizza is combined to create the perfect experience. From the crust to the sauce to the toppings, its very clear that details matter to these folks. In a world where prices are going up and quality is going down, its nice to see there are people out there willing to put it all on the line when they believe in their product and the payoff is huge. My wife and I look forward to many many years of patronage and truly wish these owners the success they so clearly deserve.

I will say, be prepared to wait. Take a deep breath and enjoy the amazing smells while they whip up your pie. This is not their fault, or maybe it is, but not because they aren’t paying attention. Its because the product they offer is so far above the rest you will quite literally be fighting for elbow room just to get a bite of the best pizza in the midwest (yes, that means they beat you Giordano’s and Klavon’s).
