This was our first visit to UNO’s here in Porter, IN; however , I had made hundreds of visits to UNO’s and DUE’s , the original locations. I used to lead bicycle tours to Chicago. We would meet the founder, Ike Sewell there. This location is a gem for it is just a few hundred yards from Chellberg Farm of the Indiana Dunes National Park. It is so convenient to hike there and eat.I lead free hikes with the Indiana Dunes Hiking dot com everyday and this is a gem. It is so easily accessed from Valparaiso, Chesterton, Portage, Burns Harbor and the i94 interstate or the i80!Tollroad. Today our server was Cara. She was so helpful exposing questions about their puzzle. She listened to my story about meeting Ike. She was checking on us continuously and make sure we had our Klee on water filled. We had a thin pizza as we didn’t have time today to wait 40 minutes for the original deep dish to be prepared. She was just a perfect person to compliment the great food. The restaurant was decorated so well and was so clean. We will make sure to come here often as we are I the area doing Indiana Dunes Hiking dot Com free events. Come and check it out!

This restaurant rated high on Google for pizza restaurants and we saw the advertisement at the Indiana Dunes NP. We were hoping for a great Deep Dish pizza. Unfortunately, this was not the place for it. Not for us anyhow. The sauce was not a great pizza sauce. The lack of toppings and cheese were not what we've come to know as a traditional Chicago style deep dish. As a pizza it was not great. The ladies in service were great all evening with us and other tables. The manager or whomever the lady was that came in and started boisterous talking and laughing was not needed. She may have been from the bar section adjoining.

Fantastic!! One of my favorite pizza joints in Chicago. About time Chesterton/Porter got a decent pizza. Many of the local spots emulate Chicago pizza, Pizzeria Uno delivers. You simply cannot get a deep dish pizza like this in the Region. The Speakeasy is already an amazing bar. A fabled history as a speakeasy that Al Capone frequented, The Speakeasy treats its guests to cozy ambiance, set against a wonderful art nouveau back bar brought from Chicago. The staff is lovely and accommodating. Our server Jean couldn’t have made us feel more at home. Pizzeria Uno and the Speakeasy are a perfect fit.

We’d never been to Pizzeria Uno before, and when we arrived, we weren’t sure where to wait to be seated. There was no clear signage, no host, and no greeting—just the unmistakable vibe of confusion. We finally asked a waitress, who told us it would be a 10-minute wait, despite the restaurant being only half full. No line, no crowd, just plenty of open tables and... apparently, no urgency.

We waited. Then we watched. Two other groups were seated ahead of us. Still not busy. Still no explanation. I can only assume they were severely understaffed, which I might have understood—if anyone had acknowledged us or communicated even a sliver of what was going on. Eventually, the receptionist from the attached inn (not a restaurant employee!) came over and helped us. That alone should tell you something.

After we finally got our food—props where they’re due, the pizza was good—we ran into the next issue: disappearing service. We waited 10 minutes after finishing, hoping someone might notice we were done. My wife and daughter eventually left so our kid could get to bed. I stayed another 15 minutes, then had to actively flag someone down just to get a check and a box. The box arrived... flattened. Like a metaphor for this whole experience.

Here’s the thing: I’ve worked in the food industry. I know how hard it is. I’ve never left a bad review before. I believe in giving people grace. But this was just not acceptable. It wasn’t one mistake, it was a consistent lack of attention, communication, and care. We left feeling frustrated, ignored, and honestly kind of angry.

Go for the pizza, sure. But maybe bring a sleeping bag and a megaphone in case you want to...

Tried the pizza here last week. Was very surprised when we found this place. We live here in Chesterton and never knew they were here, especially as long as they've been open. Just happened to attend an event at the Spa a few weeks ago is when we first saw them.

We ordered a large thin crust and two small deep dish. The prices are very reasonable and the quality is above average. If you enjoy a true Chicago deep-dish, this is the place to go.

The large works pizza was perfect. Crust was crispy, plenty of toppings and sauce, and all the vegetables were fresh.

The deep dishes were exactly what you'd expect from Uno's downtown Chicago. Was very happy that the sausage was made into a patty for the entire pie and not just crumbled like most other places try to slip past you as a Chicago deep dish. The sauce on top was again perfect and exactly what you'd receive downtown.

We ordered ours for carry-out. Delivery is not an option unless using Doordarsh, grubhub, or similar service. The staff was extremely friendly, both on the phone when ordered and in person when we picked up.

I'm looking forward to our next "pizza night" as we will definitely be eating here again. Though this time, we will dine-in because straight from the oven to the table is the only thing that could make...

I felt completely dismissed through my whole experience here. We waited for several minutes before we decided to seat ourselves just so someone would see us. Before I get into sharing my experience with my server, if you could call her that, I want to note that the ambience and food was wonderful. I don't know if Bre was having a bad day or what, because I'm in the service industry and I GET IT, but even after trying to reassure her and let her know I know how it is, she was rude, short and basically, nowhere to be found. I tried to get the attention of the host or busser and she was too preoccupied on her phone and going outside to do whatever, to even care. She said she'd get someone but no one came and although she did come over and try to help, she just tried taking our plates before we were even done and then just got flustered and walked away. We tried getting her attention a few other times and it just seemed like she was trying to avoid us, the whole time not looking up from her phone or disappearing outside. First impressions are everything and I really recommend finding different FOH staff to represent your business. We'll be back because, like I said, everything else was great and it's also close to home. Hopefully our next experience isn't misled with...
