Mcnallys Fairview Lodge is my new spot to get an all around fantastic steak and super friendly service. When I walked through the doors I was greeted by a smiling hostess who seated me right away. In my spot, I had a wondrous view of the kern river. Within a minute of sitting down I was giving water and a relish tray (celery, carrots, pepperoncini, green onions, and the best bread and butter pickles I've ever had in my life!) after deciding what to order I set my menu down and within what seemed like seconds, the waitress, I think her name was lulu, took my order and offered me appetizers, I chose the homemade garlic bread for the appetizer and ordered the Fairview special (6oz filet, 3 broiled or fried shrimp, or a baked potato, rice peel off, and steak fries. Shortly after this I was given my salad, served with the best homemade ranch you'll ever find and some fresh warm bread. Once I finished my salad I was given my garlic bread which was cooked to perfection. After maybe a ten min wait my food came out. There is really no way to describe how fantastic the shrimp, steak, and potato tasted. It tasted just like moms! After clearing my plate I decided I wasn't done with this rustic destination. Following the offer for desert, I ordered a mud pie, which was the best desert I have ever had in my life, no joke. It has an Oreo crust, coffee ice cream, chocolate ice cream, and a lot of whipped cream drizzled in chocolate syrup in the top. My favorite! Throughout the whole night, my drinks were refilled regularly and never got completely empty, also my plates were cleared regularly too. Before leaving I asked the waitress if I could tell the cook myself how delicious my meal was. She said absolutely with a smile on her face. She led me to the grill station herself and let me say my compliment. Man even the cook was friendly too. Not only was there one cook, there was two. The other one a probably 14 year old kid and he was busy as a bee getting played set up and whatnot. Very impressed! If you want a family run restaurant that also treats you like family, this is the place to go!!! Will be...
Read moreRead if staying in trailers! Here's the deal...they are old travel trailers! They are meant for sleeping ha you do have beds stove sink dishes bathroom everything you need! There were some people I heard who were upset about it saying it's not what they expected yada yada but you are in the mountains! You have no cell service no Wi-Fi in a beautiful rustic spot...it's not a holiday inn! We found out that although there is a bathroom...ya the porta potty is much more useful! Also I suggest The trailer Pine...it's the 1st one and The closest to the bridge restaurant and awesome views plus The coolness from the the river at night is nice! There is a window AC but truth be told when it's 100 outside not much is going to help ya out! The restaurant is amazeballs and always has been! Portions are large and they make their own bread and butter pickles =] I've always loved their staff! Everyone just has such a great laid back attitude! The store on site in my opinion is super cute too! Sorry to the woman who works there I don't remember your name but she was so darn cute and sweet! Yes it's more expensive but hey it's ease at that point or you can drive into kernville and grab things but the time and gas...might as well grab it there if you can! For example body wash you can get at the dollar store (same...
Read moreI drove up from LA to see the Trail of 100 Giants. I had planned to stay overnight but had not reservations. I made my way towards Kernville and stopped by McNally's General store to ask for directions to a dog friendly motel/hotel. Well, lucky me, beside the General Store is a pet friendly lodge! I was traveling with just myself and my dog. The room was large, covers comfortable. There is a river right behind the lodge which I absolutely loved. The water was cold but I still enjoyed it. I had absolutely no cell service here but they do have wifi, which was a plus. I ate at the restaurant beside the lodge and had filet mignon. The food was great. The next morning, I drove 15 min into the city of Kerrville for breakfast bc McNally's doesn't open for breakfast until 11am. I had a great stay and would def return. If you absolutely need cell service. I would recommend driving 15 miles past this place...
