TL;DR Food was ok, service was passable.
Note: My wife eats here occasionally and told me the food and service are normally better.
Server seemed friendly enough, but had trouble keeping track of the order. The wait was not overly long, but not short. We got our drinks quickly, but then it seemed like if you didn't ration your drink it would go empty and stay that way.
I tried a few things after seeing the Arkansas Food Hall of Fame awards on the wall. I wish I'd have ordered less.
The cheese sticks (breaded) were OK. Nothing special, but decent. Comes with marinara or ranch for dipping.
I tried both the "seasoned" (curly) and regular (crinkle cut) fries. Unfortunately despite the large amount of fish being cooked, the fries didn't taste slightly fishy (which some might prefer).
The chicken strips are interesting. It's like they were tenderized with a mallet then fried. It makes them crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside. Unfortunately, I couldn't taste any interesting seasonings in the breading.
I of course ordered the Reuben. The cheese is decent, the meat is shaved or shredded and is amazing. Unfortunately I prefer lots of strong sauerkraut (which to me is a key ingredient in a Reuben) and I could not even taste the sauerkraut. There may have been some kind of sauce or dressing on it as well since the whole sandwich tasted creamy.
My sister ordered a Large Onion Ring for the table to split. They were pretty good. I'm not a huge onion ring fan, but I enjoyed the one I ate. Crispy and.... onion-ey.
My sister also purchased an armload of fried/hand pies at the register. She said they are really good and the cashier said they sell a ton of them, so if that's your thing go ahead and try em.
They do serve Malt's here (chocolate, vanilla, banana, caramel, etc.). I didn't have one, but if I did I'd probably have given this place a...
Read moreI ordered a steak medium rare. When it came out the first cut showed the meat looked kinda purple. Even a rare steak shouldn't look purple. This was blue rare level. Worse because it was actually cold to the touch like they maybe tried to cook a frozen steak. I'm usually not one to cause a fuss. I tend to just go with the flow but I decided to actually speak up. I called the waitress over and said "I'm sorry to be a bother but this steak is raw and cold in the middle." . I'm a nice guy and was really respectful. I sincerely felt bad for sending it back. She then went to the cook and I heard her tell him I said it was raw and cold with a bit of irritation making it sound like I was demanding and unreasonable. Something else was said and I heard the waitress voice go up an octave saying "I know, I thought so too!" The cook got offended and we could hear him clearly say "What the hell does he want? Medium?" in a bit of a half yell. I was with a friend who got offended by this and when she brought back the steak which was actually medium now he said some words about the cook can say that stuff to our face if he has a problem. The waiter went back and told the cook this to which we heard him shout, "Tell them to eat their meal and get out!". The type of guy I am I try to avoid drama. I did take a bite of the steak but my appetite was gone and it didn't taste right. During this the waitress had to go and tell everyone else about this incident as I could hear her repeating the events to multiple people all twisted a bit making it sound like we were causing trouble. I got a to go box and paid for the food and left then when I got home I threw it away. I'm not going to eat...
Read moreWe were passing thru & stopped for a sandwich & salad to go from the outside window. We were told it would take 20-25 minutes which seemed odd, but we said ok. 45 minutes later my husband asks about our food since our name wasn't called. He was handed a bag which had the sandwich & salad but was missing the salad dressing & fork. I went back to the window to ask for them. There were 3 girls there & all walked away as I stepped up. So after about 30 seconds I rang the bell. No one came. I rang again. After the 3rd time a girl came & I told her I needed my salad dressing & a fork. She replied it would be a minute & shut the sliding door on me which had been left open the whole time we were there. Now I'm irritated. So we wait several more minutes & the original girl appears & I tell her I need my dressing & a fork. She gets me a fork, shuts the door again & walks off. A minute later appears with the container of dressing which she sets out & shuts the door again and walks off, no apology or anything. If they had been busy I could have understood, but there was no call for the rudeness just because I requested what they forgot. The customers we met were very friendly & I am sure the place is a popular restaurant. But we were met with rudeness from the wait staff that will...
