Pip's Original Doughnuts & Chai — Restaurant in Portland

We chose Pip’s Mobile instead of a traditional wedding cake because we wanted our wedding to be interactive and fun for our guests. Having the doughnut truck parked right at the venue let everyone pick their favorite doughnut and drink flavors at their own pace, which created such a lively and joyful vibe.

The ordering process was a breeze. I paid a deposit to secure our date, and the team emailed me closer to the wedding to discuss seasonal flavor options. Everything was clear and easy from start to finish.

On the day of, setup was simple and smooth. Pip’s Mobile just pulled up and parked at the entrance to the warehouse door, and guests walked down the driveway to place their orders. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, making the experience feel even more special. The doughnuts and drinks were endless for the entire hour, keeping everyone happy and coming back for more. The moment they were ready, the line quickly formed, and stayed packed because everyone was so excited.

The doughnuts and drinks were absolutely delicious. The quality was superb, and as a lovely surprise, Pip’s created custom signature flavors just for my husband and me. That personal touch made it even more memorable. Plus, their Emmy Lou Chai is one of my all-time favorites!

Worst customer service experience EVER!

I came to claim the free dozen donuts they give to everyone on their birthday. Since they were closed on Tuesdays and my birthday was on Tuesday, I came in the next day, on Wednesday, because, again, they are CLOSED all day Tuesdays.

I was told that I would not be given any free donuts since it was not my actual birthday. When I inquired further and said, "Are you sure this is the case, since you are closed on Tuesdays and you were not physically open for me to come in on my actual birthday?" They said yeah, sorry it's the owner's rule. The person at the counter looked embarrassed and as disappointed as I was. You can tell they know it's just plain wrong.

What an awful business practice, to make someone feel alienated and unvalued as a customer because YOUR SHOP WAS CLOSED, something I have no control over.

Here's a HINT TO THE OWNER: Be a better human being and don't state on your website that you'll gift EVERYONE a free dozen donuts on their birthday if you don't actually mean everyone. It's more like "everyone whose birthday is not on a Tuesday, because I, the owner, am a rigid jerk who doesn't care to DO THE RIGHT THING." Make better rules, so that all of your customers can feel valued and equal. I will NEVER GO BACK HERE and I tell everyone I can about this ridiculousness so that they can choose a better donut shop that treats everyone equally. We have lots of delicious donut choices here in Portland, do yourself a favor and choose any other place...

Okay if your in the Portland area - GO! Worth the wait! Unique and delicious!! I could stop there but since I believe spending energy on lavishing praise….here goes! Pips deserves it!! 🎈 I hadn’t been to a place where you can get a flight of donuts or a flight of chai to sample before. But wow, how yummy and fun! First, I’d tell you not to be intimidated by the line. I happened to arrive five minutes before opening via Uber and as an out of towner I was surprised. My niece had picked our meet up location and I didn’t have time to read up on it. We waited all of ten minutes to get up to the counter. Having said that, it would have been worth a thirty minute wait! Of course we got a dozen to try as they are small! Yum yum yum! Strawberry rhubarb was the seasonal choice and turned out to be my favorite. Second only to the bacon. I love a good savory sweet situation with almost any food item! Warm and crispy! But for simple tastes you could Never go wrong with just cinnamon and sugar!

We enjoy a flight of chai to sample together and my personal favorite was the smoky, followed by ginger flavor. I like the intensity. I’m a true blue coffee person - so I should have followed Up with a cup of Joe, but we talked to much to have time for that.
