I want it to be known that when I posted my review of this place the owner responded very aggressively and accusatory and when I updated my review they took down their response because of how rude it was. Do not go here if you're looking for a friendly business because if you address any concern you will be met with a very rude owner and attacked for expecting quality service.
If you're looking for coffee, this is not the place to go. I ordered two lattes with alternative milk and when I got in my car the coffee tasted like hot water and milk. I wanted to order some food but a crepe cost $22 and no matter how you phrase it, a crepe should never cost more than $15. They don't have a kitchen so I know that the food isn't made on site which doesn't justify the $22 price for one crepe. When I returned to get a refund for the coffees that I ordered, I was informed by the employee that they do not do refunds even though what they sold me was not what they advertised. I asked to speak to a manager and I was told that they don't have a manager which tells me this business is not legitimate and when she offered to remake me the coffees that I had initially ordered, She suggested that the alternative milk made my coffee taste like water and that was a clear indicator that the employees that work here do not know how to work the very expensive coffee machine that they own in shop. After minutes of going back and forth, she finally admitted that she did not know how to issue a refund. The employees at this establishment are not trained well on their operating system and they are not trained to make coffee. If you're going for a beautiful establishment to sit in and take photos and this is the place to go, but if you're looking for Quality, food and coffee go somewhere else. Update: I was on my way to my daughter's surgery that morning which I explained clearly to your employee before she called you, that is why I returned two hours later once my childs surgery was over if it wasn't for her very strict appointment I would've turned right around for my refund even sooner. To the owner if you think my review was nasty that is such a shame. It was my experience with your establishment and just as I stated above you have poor customer service. After this interaction with you the owner I highly suggest ANY other coffee shop. Your coffee was...
Read moreExcellent customer service! The gal who took our order was friendly, focused and filled the order with urgency. After placing the order she invited us to sit down and confirmed that she'd bring the order out momentarily.
The seats and tables are beautifully appointed, comfortable, and in great shape. No wobbly chairs or slanted tables here. This is a qaint venue with maybe 6 tables in addition to some bench seating. I'm guessing they could probably sit 20-24 patrons.
My iced coffee was pricey $7.49 but once it arrived you see where the money went. It was presented in a tall, thick, heavyweight glass (similar to what you'd drink a draft beer from) and the drink was visually charming with layers, whipped cream, and sprinkles. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture which means I'll have to visit them again and add the photo later.
They also offer Wi-Fi, however you'll need to ask the barrista for the password. Parking is shared with other businesses so there is a chance you'll have to park on the street.
All in all I really enjoyed my visit as this is clearly a step above Starbucks. The only two demerits are these.
Although I liked the music selection the volume was way too loud. I would've preferred a 50% reduction.
Signage! When traveling west on Division there is no signage facing your line of sight. Instead the sign on the store front itself faces Division. Due to this I ended up parking in the next parking lot by accident which doesn't connect to their parking lot.
I then had to re-enter traffic (forced to travel west), do a U-turn (relax... It's legal in many places), head east to the next intersection, do a second U-turn, and finally arrive in the correct parking lot. This could be improved immediately even if it's a homemade sign with materials from Michael's...
Read moreWe all expect a reasonable amount of waiting while visiting any business, but I don't find it acceptable when it's out of neglect. When my party and I walked in, the barista appeared to be washing/cleaning cups/dishes...we waited of course for her to be done. We were the only customers at that time. Finally, she approached the counter once she was finished and took our order. After we sat down, someone walked in, perhaps a friend (?) of the barista, they were chatting extensively for some time, showing each other (who knows what) on their phones. We certainly found it odd that she didn't prioritize making drinks for paying customers. Finally she started making our drinks once she was done chatting with her friend. Midway through the drink making process, a customer walked in, the barista then stopped making our drinks to take the customer's order. What happens when you start then pause making drinks? They get cold, ice melts, the drink/milk becomes flat etc.
We never mind paying steep prices for awesome drinks, it's OR after all. Prices are indeed steep at this coffee shop, and our drinks did not warrant those high prices. Unfortunately no one was happy with their drinks. The lattes tasted like bitter coffee with milk, and melted ice for those in my party who ordered iced drinks. The mochas tasted like lukewarm hot chocolate. Lux does not offer properly made espresso drinks, nor are they conscientious of a paying customer's time. Too neglectful of customers, and no care in...
