Great people, great place, great food!

I recently took a trip to Rhode Island for my best friend's wedding. Due to circumstances out of his fiance's and his control, their original wedding plans were cancelled and they had to work diligently to make wedding plans in RI. They made a dream wedding possible in only 3 weeks, and Foodworks deserves a TON of credit for helping to make their dream a reality. Lauren, part of the family there, is an absolute angel! Through her dedication to make her customers happy ALONE this place deserves 10 stars, let alone 5! Lauren, along with her family and her extended family of employees, these are some of the most friendly, empathetic, accommodating and just plain wonderful people I have had the pleasure of meeting. Not only were they gracious enough to lend out an entire wing of the restaurant for this intimate event, but Foodworks also cooked all the food, set up the wedding cake, arranged flowers, arranged the room how the bride and groom wanted and way more! Lauren and her staff went way above and beyond and out of their way to make sure we had enough to drink, to eat and not lift a finger. I'm from Florida, and claim to know a thing or two about "Southern Hospitality," but these folks made southern hospitality look RUDE!

Now let's discuss food: Lauren's father runs the kitchen and that man can COOK! The chicken and sole was cooked to perfection and the green beans, according to the groom, were "the best" he's "ever had." Everything was hot and on time! The servers were highly attentive, extremely friendly, and worked with such incredible and impressive speed. Keep in mind, this is all while operating their main restaurant and serving their regulars too!

All in all, a truly great experience! If you're in town you MUST try this place out! Great people, a great place and great food! WHEN I return to Rhode Island for a visit, Foodworks will be a...

Totally shocked and disappointed today. We have been going to Foodworks for quite some time however upon attending today we were told three people were ahead of us (no problem). The very RUSHED hostess asked to give them our phone number and to wait in our car. WHAT!!! We go 'no cell' on weekends, (to their shocked faces)so we were told to leave the car window open and they'd call us.. YOU have got to be joking, the parking lot was full and we were parked FAR from the building, there was NO way we would have heard them. I asked if we might wait there. THE HOSTESS was aggressive in her retort of NO! "We would have people lined up in here waiting".. ok, but in the past I've stood many times in that doorway waiting for a table with numerous others.. Honestly WE won't be going back there.... Blue Plate Diner Middletown now has our business it was clean and Every member of their team was smiling, cheerful and welcoming. Thanks Hostess at Foodworks NOT you lost...

The young waitress brought me my coffee... left, and didn't come back for 10 minutes...it wasn't all that busy, that in itself wasn't bad enough she failed to leave half and half for my coffee... I don't drink it black...and dispite my vigorous arm waving during that time to get her attention she finally rushed over and asked me what I needed...she rushed away and whispered something to her fellow worker that looked my way and they both chuckled...I guess my other head was showing... came back with the little packets of cream dropped them... didn't say anything and left... I finally got my breakfast of poached eggs and ham... which was decent enough but I didn't see her again until much later... I wanted more coffee during my meal when I ran out but I didn't feel that waving my arms again was the way to go... I left without my usual generous tip...my family owned a breafast lunch restaurant years ago... I've been around...and I won't be back...

I took the breakfast-for-lunch route and ordered the pulled pork eggs benedict, a summer special. It tasted fine, but it gave me a stomachache. I don't know if anyone else can relate, but that was my experience. Otherwise it was fine; the staff weren't particularly friendly (took a while to come take orders) but they brought some iced water for my dog, which was nice.

I was trying to find a place to eat on the way back to Boston. I had a turkey sandwich and RI clam chowder. It was one of the best sandwiches I ever had in my life! I also really enjoyed the Rhode Island style clam chowder. Wish I was from around here so I could eat there often.

Holly Molly! What an awesome little find. The food was perfect, so was their service. It is a clean and homey atmosphere and their prices are very reasonable. We loved our eggs benedict and portuguese bread french toast. You will want to check them out!
