I have visited here in the past, and my experience was quite different back then. On March 14, 2019, I decided to get food for my family here. I ordered 3 entreeโ, enough for my wife, myself, and my two children. I asked for collard greens and plantains as side and she responded with an attitude that what I see is what I get. I brushed it off, as my family was waiting for me. I get to the counter and pay for my food and Iโm told that there is a 12.5% hot food tax. Is this even legal? A $20 order quickly turned into $35 because of this. The sign should be posted where the food is ordered and not inconspicuously place by the register after the food had already been packed. Mind you the food was delicious. I will give them that, but here is the kicker. Myself and my entire family are sick with nausea and stomach aches. I had to leave work because my stomach was hurting so bad the next day. This makes me question their sanitation score, which isnโt clearly posted like the 12.5% hot food tax at the register. Never returning here again. Iโd rather drive to MPโs.
I'm so mad about my $26 I know Jamaicans are funny about refunds so I didn't even waste my time going back in asking for a refund... when I tell you the only thing that was good on my plate was the oxtail....the mac and cheese taste like MP Island Cafe mac and cheese ....if you ever had mp Island Cafe mac and cheese it takes just like dat... now I don't know if it's a Jamaican thing or what but the candy yams we're not sweet at all it tastes like they just took a can of yams from a grocery store and just put a little bit of cinnamon water on top and call the mess candy yams that mess was trash.. I stopped eating there many years ago after I ate some cabbage there one time when I tell you I was sick as a dog so I haven't been there in almost 8 years I almost had to go to the emergency room that's how bad that cabbage made me sick so I said I was going to try something different but this sealed the deal for me I would never go back here because ain't nobody got money to...
ย ย ย Read moreI always go with my kids. Good amount of parking, but not the best neighborhood. My family travels from Norfolk to Portsmouth to get their food. So we are already paying for the round trip through the Downtown Tunnel, Midtown Tunnel, or the Jordan Bridge. The food is always good, but they ask you for tips. We went one day and they had music going and a little dancing because it was one of the server's birthday. So, yes, we dropped money in the tip jar for the birthday boy. I went with my kids another day, and they came out and asked if we had tipped. I always tip when I am getting food served when I sit down, but I am going through a serving line that should be optional and...
