Papa Bears — Restaurant in Pound

My wife and I stopped at Papa Bears for dinner with modest- maybe even low expectations. The exterior of the building is nothing fancy and it's possible to drive by without giving it a second look. Similarly, the inside is small and humble. However, what we believed would be a disappointing dining experience ended there.

We were greeted by the owner (Papa Bear) with very warm/friendly conversation and we felt welcome almost immediately. While sipping drinks at the bar, we ordered our food- the Bang Bang Shrimp and Beef Tenderloin tips. Both were absolutely fantastic with the shrimp being off-the-chart tasty. Much to our surprise, the food quality and taste can probably rival almost any restaurant or supper club. This is clearly not just another bar offering the standard "bar food" of a greasy burger and deep fried whatever.

I've been a fan of this place since I moved back to the area 3.5 years ago. Been getting takeout since the pandemic started. Sometimes it takes a little while to get your food but it's still faster than delivery in a big city, and they have parking by the walkup window. Always delicious. Love the course. Place is kept neat and clean. Owner is really awesome, comes out and chats with us. It has decent difficulty, laid out well. I'd say it's a full 18 hole for anyone handicapped, paths are concrete, some might be a little tricky going up or down , but recommend playing. Waterfall and flowing water is really nice as well.
