The transformation from the Old Tavern into Sugar Water Restaurant is truly amazing. From the time you walk into the front door you feel as if you are being transported back in time to when the hotel was built in 1744. Everything has been thoughtfully updated and simplified.
The lobby has beautiful little seating areas to enjoy a glass of wine and have meaningful conversations with friends and family.
The dining rooms were beautiful with each table being covered in a beautiful linen tablecloth, linen napkins and fresh flowers. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable and always had a smile.
The owners made several stops at our table to make sure that everything was okay.
The food was top-notch! I dined with my family of four and we got appetizers of Giant Shrimp Cocktail, Oysters and Chicken Popsicles. Oh my goodness it was all phenomenal!
The Chicken Popsicles were the most amazing thing I've seen at a resauant and were served with a Bearnaise Sauce that was clearly homemade bursting with flavors.
The Giant Shrimp was also served with homemade cocktail sauce that was so fresh it took you back to a time of sitting along the waterfront and getting the seafood fresh off the boats.
The Fresh Raw Oysters were gobbled up so quickly, I did not even get a picture! Lol!
Our dinner consisted of Flat Iron Steak with mashed potatoes and broccolini, Homemade Ravioli, and Seafood Cioppino. To say that I would have licked my plate clean is an understatement!
The Flat Iron Steak was cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes and broccolini were amazing! The Ravioli tasted so fresh and was also homemade. And the Ciopinno was delectable!
For dessert we had the Creamery Limoncello ice cream and it was the bomb! You could taste the lemon and a lime in the ice cream. It was wonderful!
I have a severe gluten allergy and the staff and Chef made sure that I had no cross-contamination and my meal was perfect.
Sugar Water Restaurant has amazing farm to table fresh food with a focus on homemade with love. You can feel it in every bite.
Hats off to The owners, Dana and David Zucker, Chef Seth Zucker and the whole staff of Sugar Water Restaurant. You certainly have proven how hard work, fresh food and a wonderful staff is the key to a successful business. I feel that is how the restaurant should have always been. It's perfect! Your future is bright!
We will be customers for life!...
Read moreWell this lovely locale exceeded our expectations by a country mile. From the moment we walked in and were warmly greeted (as if we were old friends, and not simply old;) we enjoyed every mouthful. The service was attentive and efficient. The owner is amazing. The devil is in the details, and Sugar Water gets them all right (such as the fresh carnations on all the tables:) I chose a Ruben sandwich with fruit. It came out with a selection of melon, strawberry and blueberry freshly cut...and ALL of it PERFECTLY ripe. This kitchen is paying attention! Ruben was tasty and well executed. The BFG had the shawarma plate. Again, well presented and perfectly executed with lush ripe tomatoes and a wickedly good sauce. Don't get me started on the daily special of a grilled cheese with homemade tomato soup. The grilled cheese had grilled shallots, apricot/pear jam, brie and spinach on top. Thank you kitchen genie! Haven't eaten the slice of banana bread cake we took to go yet... Just come visit and come...

The place looks so elegant and beautiful and has a very charming and relaxing vibe.
