Below, you'll see my oldest daughter's review (Tasha Soukkala) and the owner's response. I'm truly disappointed in your response as the owner... . My review: Your server Isabella, made a distinct effort to ignore us throughout our visit. She sat a table (party of 4+ men) about 5 minutes after our whole party arrived, but took their order before us. She could have immediately taken our order after this, instead "Bella" walked into the kitchen and then filled their drinks and served them. She didn't come back to take our order for another 5 minutes. At what point do you give your party of 4-6 men preferential treatment over a family with 2 toddlers and 3 women? Had Bella checked on us after we received our food, we wouldn't have had to attempt to wave her down repeatedly or call for her across the small dining room to order a drink for my granddaughter. She walked past us twice before we were able to get her attention...again, she didn't check on us after we received our order. The disregard Bell had for us had nothing to do with computer problems, nor working in a busy restaurant, nor a server under stress as you mentioned in your response to my daughter. Your restaurant wasn't very full at the time and she had no problem giving attention or service to the other parties in the dining room. In fact, she was very friendly and pleasant, smiling and joking! An apology from you and an offer to make things right would have shown you are sincerely apologetic for your server's behavior! - making excuses does nothing but cause us to really believe she has underlying issues regarding our race or that her behavior was racially motivated. Several of your other staff were friendly and kind to us. Stop making excuses for "Bella".
My other daughter Tara Mostrom posted a review as well. She is a shift manager at a Caribou coffee. I am an avid coffee drinker and we know there was an issue with your coffee either being very, very weak or we were served decaffeinated coffee since the tab on the carafe was red. I just didn't think about it while we were seated.
How disappointing... If you knew my family, it takes a lot for us to complain...
TASHA'S REVIEW & YOUR RESPONSE BELOW ------- Tasha Soukkala Local Guide · 48 reviews · 50 photos 2 hours ago- We are a Native American family and I need to write a review to warn others away. Our waitress Isabella was racist and wouldn't help us. We had to complain at the front so we could finally order after she was taking orders from people who arrived after our party did. She took our order but didn't come back to ask if we needed anything. To get help we had to call her from across the room. She grimaced more than smiled. The woman at the front was very nice. Unfortunately I didn't catch her name. Also, the hash browns were overdone and inedible but the rest of the food was good. Edit: She must have given us decaf coffee. We had multiple cups but didn't realize until after. Very dissatisfied. 1 Response from the owner 2 hours ago I’m so sorry you felt that way. Bella is Not racist but I know that we were having computer problems this morning and it was very busy which can be very stressful so if she wasn’t smiling that could have been why. I am sorry you felt you were ignored, that is not the way we do business but it was not because you are Native American! I’m not sure why you thought it was decaf coffee but it wasn’t. I’m...
Read moreWe want to love this place and some of the times it is ok, depending on your server but it's mostly ran by teens who clearly don't want to work or be there. It's always busy on the weekends and eating in vs take out your definitely going to get better food. We've ordered take out a couple times and our side of hashbrowns where literally two bites and another time my Carmel roll was hard as a brick and burnt. (I've never had a burnt Carmel roll there). Another time we were told a 40 mins wait and showed up after 20 (cuz we were on our way home thankfully) and it was already ready.. thankfully we stopped in and didn't wait in the car cuz it was luke warm after 20 mins .. I can't imagine how gross it would have been another 20 mins under the heat lamp. When we eat in, a lot of the teens clearly don't like the other older teen they work for as we have clearly heard them express it to each other. I can understand why as she doesn't great you when you walk in or help others when it's busy, I've seen her standing around doing nothing when it's busy. She has seated us and instead of taking our drink norder we waiting 20 mins for our busy waitress to get to us while she folded napkins. . And from what I've heard thru the others gossiping around us she's in charge.. it leads to a not very relaxing breakfast. I love they have the opportunity to expand and i wish the best for them but I don't see us going back. We haven't even called in to complain about our food because its just a bunch of teens working when it comes out bad who don't really seem to care that we are there and honestly I can't believe would send out the quality it came out.. Sadly there's not very many options in Princeton and we are in Zimmerman but may...
Read moreMerlin's is a family owned restaurant that exceeds in customer service and friendly atmosphere. My family had the Sunday morning buffet. It was standard breakfast fare like waffles, eggs, sausage, cheesy hash browns, etc.. overall the food was okay at the Buffett but not great. Food being ordered off the menu looked better overall and we will probably go that route next time. The atmosphere is tight but friendly. The unfortunate by-product of being so close to each other is sharing in their smells. I'm not a smoker but felt like I had started that day. The Buffett serving area was clean and well stocked, but in a very small area that also happened to be the main passage in and out of that area. Overall Merlin's deserves four Stars for their welcoming warm customer service that is above reproach in the...
