Came here after a day at the beach in Loquillo.. We wanted to skip the kiosks and try this cute roadside place. We arrived at the restaurant at 5pm/ Here is all that went wrong. 1.ROADSIDE- you get all of the noise from the street. Honking cars, raving engines and motorcycles. Just be prepared if that not your thing
Got a table for 5 (park bench seating which was fine) All adults
Order placed for drinks (3) coke zeros , (2) bottles of water.
Food Order was (1) margarita pizza for appetizer- (1) rack of ribs, (1) Coconut rice with tostones, (1) chicken wrap (NOT Crispy but breast) (1) pulled pork wrap and (1) hamburger
Pizza was delivered as two small rounds with fresh tomatoes and American cheese. Not what was expected but still ok. We are in Puerto Rico after all
After waiting an additional 40 mins- server came out and said that they were out of ribs.(it took almost an hour to realize you were out of ribs?) Offered pulled pork. Went with the Pork Asado and sweet plantains instead.
Waited an additional 40 mins (are you keeping track of time?) and after watching several tables come- get served their food and go) a cold over cooked hamburger arrived and pulled pork wrap. When we asked for ketchup for the burger (and fries that were served with both plates) were told they only had (3) bottles of ketchup ALL DAY and it was all gone. We asked for the manager and was told he was in the kitchen and was already upset. Was offered BBQ sauce as that was their only condiment.
Chicken wrap was about to be served when the server said OH we dont have chicken, only chicken tenders that are frozen so the chicken wrap was sent back untouched. Asked for the manager again.
Cold coconut rice and tostones (stale) were served as well as the roasted pork with RAW plantains
Food was barely touched after waiting over 2 hours. Finally, our server came over to let us know he was not charging us for the chicken wrap and the roasted pork but wanted to let us know our group of 5 was too large for them to manage.
Finally- after we paid the $50 something bill RELUCTANTLY- one of the waiters came to ask us hour our experience was - and he apologized.
My brother in law is local to the area, and we wanted to spend our money locally.
Our experience was less than poor with the owner/manager refusing to speak with us. The wait staff was unable to keep us updated for whatever reason and the food was truly not edible. I hope that they see this review and make changes. We love Puerto Rico and want to support all of the local businesses. At the same time, if you are running a restaurant- a LARGE one at that- try to keep the ketchup full and your main dishes available (or your...
Read moreThis was our first stop for food after we dropped off our luggage at the villa we were staying at. We looked for something in the area and this place had pretty decent reviews so we wanted to give it a try. We were starving and couldn’t wait to eat some Puerto Rican food. When we got there the place was empty but it was early. The place did start to fill up a bit a few minutes later but not to the point where it was really busy. Our waitress came to take our order and my kids wanted pernil and they said they didn’t have any. So we then asked for the chuleta and they said they didn’t have that either. So they ended up ordering the steak. For the appetizer we ordered mozzarella sticks. About 20 minutes later the waitress came with our drinks and my daughter’s piña colada had a hair in it. The mozzarella sticks came a few minutes later and just by the look of them I knew they were overcooked and dry, and I was right. The waitress then told us that they didn’t have the steak. We were all confused at this point because we ordered almost 30 minutes ago and now you’re telling us this? My kids decided they just wanted rice and beans at this point. A whole hour goes by and we have to ask when our food is coming. While we continue to wait for our food my kids start laughing saying a bird had flown up on the kitchen counter and had pulled a quesadilla off the plate that had just been put out for one of the other tables. The waitress for that table goes and picks the quesadilla off the counter and puts it back on the plate and serves it to the other table!!! We got up and asked for the check for our drinks and mozzarella sticks and left. This place is disgusting! Don’t have any pictures to post because we never...
Read moreYou might see the sign for Asador Boricua from Highway 3 and think nothing of it, but that would be your first mistake. Your second mistake, if youre looking for good eats, is not turning "directly" around to get here. If you dont know, now ya know....so someone once said, and in this case it is emphatically true. Asador Boricua seems to specialize in tantalizing your tastebuds. Each dish we had, Fish Bites, Calamari, and Roasted Pork were absolutely delicious, maybe phenomenal. Not one to completely finish a meal, all bets were off once I got to sample their dishes. Presentation is fantastic, but the food is on another level. Nuanced goodness, deftness of touch when it comes to spicing and preparation. The Roast Pork was tender, melt in your mouth good, and the Fried Cracklin topper to that dish was diabolically good. If they ever strap me in a chair for a jolt of unaliving, and I need a last meal, it might a plate full of cracklin. Holy sh*t. Fish Bites were nicely done, balanced in taste, lightly dusted and felt ocean fresh. The Calamari was also on par, I feel most restaurants dont know how to soften Calamari rings, not here, like "buddah baby" in your mouth, with a pinch of heat from the Sweet Chili glaze. Love the ambience of AB, outdoor dining, contemporary casual, intimate and authentic. The service was excellent, we had Sulianna as our server, and she was friendly, knowledgeable and made our meal that much more enjoyable with her effortless smile, and prompt service insuring we were enjoying our meal. Will we be back? Please, of...
