The food here has gone south. What was once a great place for wings is now in my opinion in a downward trend.
Breakfast here might be your best bet if you get there before they run out of eggs. For most small businesses sometimes things aren't so good. Short of certain foods, French Toast left partly uncooked, A local breakfast sausage that must only appease their clientele as it has no spices or flavor.
The owner has waited on us and you can tell she cares about her business but the hired help is brash and disconcerting, and the kitchen help I see is already changing how food is made and not to standard in my opinion.
This family-owned, family-run business opens for breakfast at 8am. It has split seating so you can go to the bar or the dining area. But it's questionable if its a bar or a diner...It's bathrooms are clean and well kept. The owner is friendly but staff likes to talk so youll need to speak up and ask for stuff you need.
There are two entrances, and during the winter the entrance closest to the parking is closed except for elderly and handicapped due to the owners looking out for customers because of cold air as patrons come and go. So the main entrance is on the side of the business.
Now I haven't had everything on the menu so let's talk portions. The appetizers are a nice size for a small price. The funnel cake fries are good, lol. Keeping in mind it's also a bar I prefer zucchini strips over fries but the breaded green beans are yummy.
The only sandwich I had was a great fish sandwich although size was lacking the taste did make up for it. I also always have a thirst so the bottled beverage to me is a negative but the fresh tea is bottomless. As a restaurantor there's no money to be made on bottled sodas so that's got me baffled.
Lastly, for some reason they have no road signage, I actually drove past this location over a dozen times and even passed it up using Google maps. Sadly, I no longer recommend RUMORS as the best wings in...
ย ย ย Read moreFood portions are severely lacking, but prices align perfectly high with finer diner restaurants in the area. Also noticed that the food seems to be entirely homemade - chicken tenders seem to be chicken breast cut into sections, and dipped in their own homemade breading, then deep fried or baked, and it comes out slightly soggy and the coating falls off. Not what you'd normally expect from restaurant-grade chicken tenders. It was akin to shake-n-bake, maybe a little worse. I wanted honey mustard dipping sauce. They literally mixed honey+mustard and gave that to me. While I appreciate a fine chef/wizard/food master and the ability to formulate your own sauces and recipes in your kitchen, sometimes it's better to buy the prepackaged stuff, prepare it, and hand that out, especially if the "recipes" aren't very special after all. I've ordered many times - there's a burger they have - it's like a $7 burger, and it's very thin for the price. Drinks are basically cans of soda from a fridge that you buy, no soft drinks.
I can't say I've ever really thought it was worth eating at Rumor's. It's just too expensive for what you actually get.
EDIT: Thanks for the response. However without any significant changes, I can't say that I'll be back. The entire food menu would need redesigned and food vendors likely changed in order to achieve better quality and results to satisfy the taste buds of...
ย ย ย Read moreStopped with a cpl coworkers after work for dinner. Staff was friendly, attentive and nice. Food was cheap but not great by any means. My chicken sandwich was basically 1 large chicken tender cut in half. We all got boneless wings and idk what the deal was but they were not good at all. It's like they were all batter and over cooked. My buddy got a wrap and said there was hardly any meat in it. The place is nice and the food prices look attractive but I woukdnt eat there again. The seasoned curly fries were decent and the hot pepper cheese bites we shared were ok too but that's it. Sorry. Wish I could've given a...
