I've passed this gem of a place many times but nevthought to stop by as I never thought much of it and often just stuck with what I knew (S&G, BreadMe, etc). But boy have I been missing out. Just wanting something different I went off the recommendation of a co-worker and decided to try this little quaint place. Consideriner g I've never ventured here before I figured I would go with something basic. I'm not very social so having the option to order online made viewing their menu and ordering seamless and without pressure. I ordered a large plate of fried fish (whiting) with three sides collard greens, cabbage, and Mac and cheese and honestly I could have ordered more as I so wanted to try the plantains, fries, and more but any more than what I already had would have me sleeping through my shift lol. Not even a minute after ordering I received a call tell me that they didn't have enough fish to complete the size of my order and I could either wait until more was made, order a different item and/or size, or they could add a small entree. I chose the latter, having both fish AND chicken. Which served me fine because I wanted to try the whole smorgasbord of a menu. Upon entering for the first time I was hit with a homey decor that definitely emphasized the "family" aspect. The lady that tended my order was very polite and with me ordering online I was in and out. The seasoned aroma wafted through the air as I drove back to work and man I could not wait. Here's my breakdown: Cabbage - tender, kinda smoky, perfect amount of heat but not overbearing, just kisses the palette
Collards - nice bite, slight earthy undertone and seemed to have a hint of a vinegar taste
Mac and cheese - practically perfect but would have preferred a little more chew to the noodles, not a deal breaker just personal preference as these noodles melt in your mouth
Whiting - tasted like home fish fry. Wish I had some bread with it. Perfectly seasoned
fried chicken - never been a fan of full size drums (sue me lol) so these drumettes and flats were right up my alley. Often I've come across chicken that sacrifices crispiness for flavor or vice versa but there is no compromise here
This was definitely a true sampler and for only $18, with a soda (12oz can) I might add, oh yeah they have a repeat customer with me and I'm getting the plantains next time for sure lol. Long story short be sure to check out this little home eatery and if you have continue to tell your friends and/or co-workers about it as it...

Read moreSo far I had great experience with this quaint little place. Owner is super friendly and sweet. I came in at lunch and tried their Fish and Chips, Mac & Cheese and Collards green. They open at 11 am and closes at 6 pm. I suggest placing your order ahead of time instead of waiting if you have limited lunch time. It’s also a great place to pick up dinner since they’re still open by the time you get out of office hours if you work on base. My food was delicious, I enjoyed it very...
