I keep going back to this place and I don't know why. Now, that's not to say the food or service is bad. The food is decent, but the service -for the times I've been there- is wonderful. If it matters to anyone, the servers are hot! On to the food - I ordered a Piña Colada (PC) and didn't specify nor was asked with or without alcohol. It was served without. I don't mind; I'll drink them either way. With the virgin PC, I asked for their fish tacos appetizer. It wasn't to die for but it was good. The fish was well cooked, tender, and well seasoned. You have your option of the local mayo-ketchup (fry sauce) or their version of tartar sauce -certainly not what most know as traditional tartar- but it was good enough that I kept what was left to use it as a dipping sauce for my fries. As my lunch meal, I asked for the Latin Burger... wonderfully seasoned meat. The problem is that I asked for a medium well done burger, though it seems from reading other reviews, their default is well done meat. Oh, $1.25 to add -not extra; just add- American cheese on to a $12 burger... SO NOT COOL! On the location - It's sort of a mix bag of diner meets the tropics and I love it! The drawback, however, is that this is Puerto Rico and very close to the ocean. Hot as hell does not come close. Although the joint is wonderful it really needs to revisit how to keep things cool for sit in diners. The dirty home fans scattered across the ceiling just DON'T do the trick and there is not enough of an ocean breeze (or view) to appease and prevent a...
Read moreWe were there as a table of four. We ordered the platter to share. The server did not explain it well, even though we asked how it came. We understood we had choices, instead we were charged for the platter and the additional items we chose. We waited a very long time for our food, while people who ordered after us were being served.
We spoke to a manager when waiting for our food, they helped to expedite things. Our food came out cold (almost seemed chilled) and wrong. The same manager did not care or make any attempt to make it right.
We asked for a discount, they refused. They even went so far as to tell us if we did not pay the full balance the difference would be taken from the server's tips for the night.
To be clear this was not a misunderstanding due to language, we had local Puerto Ricans at the table, speaking to them in Spanish.
I would like to think it was just a bad day. They were not that busy though, so it is hard to justify.
Flavors were good, atmosphere was nice. I would try it again alone one day to see if they do better. But they failed on...
Read moreIf you are craving burgers with a Puerto Rican twist then this is the place. This place always seems to be a spot we stop at and eat before we do the "tourist" things in the area. The drinks are always so delicious and though they may not have tons of vegetarian options there's things you can do enjoy. My daughter personally had the vegetable mofongo and I just had to taste. It was so delicious that I even kept digging into her calderito. 😋 And my burger though the smallest one was full of flavor. The restaurant in itself has an outdoor patio concept but chill concept. Staff has always been friendly and accommodating. Chances are if I we're ever in the area, I'll hit up this...
