My husband and I went there bc we were staying in the st Regis resort for our honeymoon. After reading the reviews, we had low expectation because it seemed to be the only choice. We were sat by the window and were nicely welcomed. The food was alright, overpriced but not too bad. We ordered sea bass and filet mignon, two sides, as well as a dessert, and ended up paying $250+ for two people. However, two things made our dinner not so pleasant:
While having the bread, there was a fly by our table. It flew closely to our food and eventually landed on it. My husband and I tried very hard to wave and drive the fly away but had no luck. As someone extremely scared of insects, I tried so hard not to scream. Throughout this whole process, no one approached us or tried to help. My husband had to raise his hand and call a server, who stepped onto the fly and killed it, but left the dead fly by our table and left! Had to call another server to clean it up. It was disgusting.
The server made a wrong order. We ordered mashed potato but they served the pumpkin. The pumpkin was very good but we thought it was complimentary (bc we never ordered it or paid attention to it on menu). After we finished the main dish, we asked the server about the mashed potato. She asked whether we want to bring it up to the table now (sounding like she had it ready but just has not served it just yet). This was very confusing - shouldn’t the side be served along with the main dish? We said no we don’t need it anymore, so she cancelled the order. There was no apology or explanation regarding the wrong order. The pumpkin we never ordered was still charged as part of our bill. It was delicious and we had it, so we paid...
Read moreUnworthy of St. Regis. The food was at best mediocre. We had a nice and attentive waitress. However, the Maitre d’ (Einosha) was rude and dismissive. We were celebrating a special occasion and we’re excited about this dining experience. The Maitre d’ sat us at a small table away from the nice view. My wife politely asked if we could be seated at one of the 4 open tables by the window. Einosha told my wife that that table was reserved for a family of four. It sounded questionable because there were 4 tables available even if they were truly waiting for one family of four. Moreover, we were seated after 7 pm and there was no way 4 families of four were going to come after us and before closing time. Sure enough we sat at our less than optimal table until closing time and no families of four showed up. She, however, went one to seat 4 couples at those tables while we had our dinner. I don’t know if this was racial discrimination or she was just instructed to fill the less desirable tables first. Regardless, we were not happy being lied to. So on our way out, we told her about our experience and how she lied to us. She was very dismissive. This experience makes me not want to come back to the restaurant or this St. Regis location again. To add insult to injury my wife got diarrhea after the meal which ruined our plans for the next day.
Save yourselves the hassle and go enjoy your time...
Read moreLovely space with several tables looking out to the beach. Service was pretty good overall, though it became significantly less attentive as the place filled up. I'm not docking them a star for that because it seems like the whole island was having labor shortage issues at the time, and the rest of the experience more than made up for it.
The food was fantastic; we had the spanakopita, grilled octopus, branzino entree, and lobster rice entree (their special). Everything was made to perfection and incredibly flavorful. The one cocktail that I had was also quite tasty, as was the dessert wine.
It's hard to comment on the value here because it's a nice restaurant at a high-end resort (St. Regis Bahia Beach), so be aware of the prices if that matters to you. I personally did not find it to be overpriced for what you get. I also would not worry much about their "formal" dress code; we saw plenty of people in shorts and open-toed men's shoes. Just don't show up looking like you came straight from the...
