‘Cask n’ Cleaver Steakhouse is a real gem. We attended a Saturday evening, high school reunion gathering at the ‘Cask n’ Cleaver. Good sized crowd, attendees filling the two rooms to the left of the entrance area as well as a back room. Attendees ordered from the menu. Food was great, many favorable comments about the various entrees ordered, including steaks. Our two Teriyaki Chicken dishes were well prepared, portions generous, sauce flavorful and Pineapple garnish fresh and also well prepared. Staff were responsive, very attentive, in spite of the size of our group. Food was ordered and arrived quickly.
Restaurant looked great, pleasant, unique environment, several good-sized tv screens easily visible. Parking was just next to the restauraunt and was well-lit after dark. Several outdoor tables at the front of the restaurant. In the area where our gathering was held, a small bar area with TVs - appeared to be a very pleasant area to hang out.
Our group was very fortunate to have been encouraged to arrange this event with ‘Cask n’ Cleaver, as the organizer reported the manager was very accommodating and willing to work with the group - an exception in today’s era of corporate dining establishments.
The restaurant is located a bit off the ‘beaten path’ (a plus in busy Southern California), in an easy to get to location.
Members in our group struck up conversations with several of our waitresses; they were all very personable and did a great job with our group.
We didn’t sample any of the deserts, but they all looked great going by, headed to other tables.
This was our first visit to ‘Cask n’ Cleaver, but it appears this restaurant has a loyal following based on the number of locals and their families coming and going during our event.
During a time when many establishments have trouble with food and service because of staff shortages, the ‘Cask n’ Cleaver really delivers - great food, great staff, and a pleasant environment.
We live out of the area, but our next trip to Southern California will include a dinner at Cask ‘n Cleaver Steakhouse in...
Read moreWe marked a significant milestone with our 20th anniversary dinner at Cask and Cleaver, and it was an evening to remember. The food was exquisite, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and friendly. The service was impeccable - and attentive: we told them it was our 20th anniversary over the phone and they treated us like royalty. I actually felt a little bit overdressed because it's a very casual environment which is my style. We appreciated the private table in the back, featuring a cozy private area booth next to a window with a serene view of the pond. (Ask for table 24). The steak was really so fresh and cooked exactly the way I asked them to make it - which at some places can be hit and miss. They served me a baked potato with everything on it - and when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING! They put cheese in there, sour cream, butter, green onions and loaded with freshly cooked bacon. The waiter, though we could tell he was very busy, took the time to speak with us and make us feel comfortable and at home and he was very very friendly; his name was Dan. Everyone working there looked like they love their job, and all of the customers eating their food we're having such a great time. One table were playing cards and acting like they were at home. I mean I was so comfortable there. Small, tiny though it's fairly big when you actually get inside; a restaurant out of the way and hidden that you wouldn't know it was there unless you live in Rancho. I knew it was there, but I had never been before. I got the salad bar which I added to my meal for little less than $6 and it was very fresh. The complimentary piece of chocolate ganache cake with 2 candles was a lovely touch. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to many more celebrations there. I think we found our happy spot!! They made our 20th anniversary special and memorable - which is how I wanted it. Highly recommend. We will probably want to come back once a month! That's how much...
Read moreI can see that I am against it with how many positive reviews the are. However I did not have a good experience at all. One of the things everyone can agree on, is the place is outdated! Even with it outdated I could overcome this if it was good as the ratings implied. It started off great our waitress was very prompt on getting us our fresh bread and butter as well as our drink order, great start! Then we ordered my husband had the New York strip cooked medium with mashed potatoes and a salad, I ordered a caesar salad, side of steamed broccoli, and for an appetizer we had the highly recommended tempura avocado. We got our app and my husband's salad, the app was tastey and I would order it again, the salad had runny ass dressing but other then that it was fine, it's a salad after all. Then I got my broccoli that was flashed steamed for about 2 seconds but I ate it cause my caesar salad was not good at all, they tossed it which is great but the dressing was too tangy and thin a real good caesar dressing should be creamy, a little salty, and a little garlicky with anchovies. My husband got his meal and let me tell you, 1st it wasn't cooked medium the thing could still moo at this point, 2nd they didn't let it rest so although it was under cooked it was stiff and not tender it also didn't have a lick of pepper or salt or any kind of seasoning at this point! He made me try cause he thought his taste buds were off, I did and had to spit it out! Inedible he finally asked for steak sauce which if it's a good steak there is no need for anything but a fork! Haha... nevertheless I had two bites of my salad ate all my broccoli mmm and my husband left more than half of his steak, the waitress asked us if we wanted boxes, I guess from our sizes she guessed we were light eaters! Haha.... but never bothered to ask us was everything on with our food, not ok. However this just means I will not be...
