My recent visit to The R Bar was nothing short of delightful. The service was exceptional, with a server who matched politeness with a personal touch that made us feel right at home. A tip from our server to swap out chicken strips for any of the smoked meats was a game changer—the manager’s dedication to the smoking process, a daily ritual, clearly pays off. I savored the smoked chicken sandwich; a humble offering turned extraordinary by its execution. The tater kegs, both Southwest chorizo and jalapeño popper, were bursts of flavor, exemplifying the innovation in their expanding menu.

The live entertainment provided the perfect backdrop to our dining experience, creating an ambiance that's both lively and comfortably familiar. And with a game room and patio on the horizon, The R Bar is poised to become an even more enticing hangout.

Despite the high notes, there was a minor misstep—my girlfriend’s nachos arrived later than expected and disappointingly cold. A deconstructed approach or offering chips on the side could have saved the dish and the moment. Nevertheless, this hiccup hasn’t dulled my enthusiasm for a return visit. While the nachos might not be on our next order, the draw of the house-smoked specialties will surely bring us back to The R Bar.

Stopped in for lunch and to make a game plan for riding the bikes around a storm cell that was rolling in. Service was good being only 1 bartender working and a person in the kitchen. Walking in, the first smell that hit me was the smell of overly used/burned cooking oil,(maybe they had just changed the oil) the 2nd thing was the atmosphere was just dark, (as in poorly lit) but we were hungry and wanting to stay dry. With that said, the food was very good considering most everything on the menu is deep fried except the few sandwiches they offer, but no burned oil taste which is good. We had the shrimp basket and chicken tenders basket both of which came with REAL hand cut french fries, and the lemonade was definitely delicious and cold. So all in all, it was a good experience and if your in the area, it's worth the time if your looking for good dive bar...

First time coming here,Came for the prime rib,was a little smaller than I thought it should be. They did start with rolls,and then soup or salad,then Prime Rib with choice of mash potatoes or smoked mac and cheese,over all they did a great job,for the price is was worth it, for the new years eve dinner. I shouldn't compare this to another restaurant ,but there is one in Newport,Mn. that has for 14 dollars more ,can get all you can eat of the food,including prime rib,will I go back,yes will try there other foods they carry,I dont normally criticize ,but all things can be improved, I eat at many small mom and pop diners all over the country ,so am...
