Rayville Cafe — Restaurant in Rayville

We stopped here for lunch to try something different on our trip and have regrets. The lady behind the counter took a while to acknowledge our presence but then told us the lunch special. Wife and I both decided for the lunch special; wife asked for no greens as the only change. We were given cups but one of the fountain drinks were out. The wife went to the counter to tell lady the drink was out to be told it was empty and they were going to change it "in a while." Wife asked if they could fill her cup from the fountain dispenser by the drive thru window. This was met by a sullen stare and then she took the cup and filled it. Our plates arrived... and my wife's plate had greens but no potato salad. She went up to the counter to have this remedied to be told by the same lady; "Oh, I must have forgot." rather flippantly. We sat down to eat and enjoy our food, and it was okay. The fish was hot, the potato salad was nice, the greens I enjoyed. When the lady sitting at the table next to us asked us to look at her chicken strip. She had just spit out a bite surreptitiously and held out the strip. It was raw. Not just under cooked but raw. She showed the lady behind the counter and left. At this point we lost our appetite and left. We did get a to-go plate for the leftovers to give to the dogs. And on a final note the folks working in the place were rather foul-mouthed. Obscenities was bandied about. "That woman just left. What do they expect?" etc, etc. What could have been a good dining experience went sideways fast. Mostly due to the subpar service we received and saw others receive. The lady with the tattoos was not customer orientated nor seemed to care. That attitude certainly soured the meal. It was the worst meal we encountered on a six...

This was my second time eating here and this will be my last time. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and made it a meal for the extra $4. I must say the soda was cold and good. The chicken was clearly a breast that has cut into a butterfly 🦋 breast and then looked as if that has been cut into half and the half breast then cut in half to actually make 4 pieces out of one breast. The chicken was thinner than the lettuce with chopped up onions not even close to the picture on the website. The breast was so small clearly NOT worth the $11. Even the fry portion was kiddy size and hard to chew. When I called the cafe to let them know the young lady that answered the phone was nice, but no one could tell me how many ounces the chicken breast should have been because clearly that had to be 2 ounces The chicken breast definitely have been cut in four portions. There was no flavor of chicken to taste only mayonnaise and vegetables. I definitely will not dine here again. If the chicken breast is this small try using a smaller bun because ordering a grilled chicken breast to only get a dry overcooked breast and taste bread, mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomatoes was not worth the $16 I paid. UPDATE 07/03/2025* Thanks to the OWNER, he reached out to me, assumed responsibility for my mishap, will be training kitchen staff, and offered reimbursement or a meal on the house. New update: 3-8-2025 came in to try the crawfish and shrimp special it was off the chart. Great flavor and taste and were super easy to peel. Would definitely come in and eat the boiled shrimp and crawfish again. Delicious 😋

Been here several times in the last 2 weeks and everytime the food has been wonderful . The owners are great people who are working hard on getting all the kinks out of a new place. My son got a hamburger and he rates every burger joints we go to , he gave yall a 9/10 I believe is about as good as it can get . I've never heard him give anymore than that. The club sandwiches are awesome . The blackened chicken Alfredo was good. My husband loved the shripm poboy . He wants yall yo add a fish po boy to the menu and my sons girlfriend said the buffalo chicken wings were delicious and the ranch dressing is off the chain.So far we have enjoyed everything we have ordered. I really enjoy the owner walking around greeting the people who are eating ....
