Rayville Southern BBQ & Grill — Restaurant in Rayville

The atmosphere was good. Very casual and pared down, very clean. Hand written boards and menus. You order at the counter and they bring the food out when its done. Plenty of seating. The parking lot is very small. I suggest parking in the fitness parking lot and crossing the curb. This place is in a very industrial area... be prepared to see plenty of trucks. You cannot hear them from inside the restaurant.

As for the food... The pork chop special was... okay. The board said chops, plural, and I only got one, though it was quite large and thin. The pork itself was tough and I had to use my hands to eat it because the plastic ware was too flimsy. The salad was alright... the lettuce was browning a little but still crisp. Like it was prepared earlier in the day. I liked the pickles in it. The roll was good, but no butter on the tables and it was only room temp... which is fine, except warm is better. The small drinks that come with the meals are well sized and their machine seems to be well maintained. The brisket was phenomenal. As were the ribs. And the baked potato, though it was sans the skin and was more like loaded mashed potatoes, was still amazing. The person at the counter was a little gruff but friendly enough, if not a little hard of hearing. Everything seemed decently priced. I regret not trying...

Had the three meat platter with two sides, really good price. Comes with a drink too. I don't know how they got my grandma's green bean recipe but it brought back memories of warm summer nights listening to the crickets, Smoked meats are really good I had the brisket the sausage and the chicken. Just right amount of smoke, not overwhelming. The chicken was a little dry, I also had the Cajun Rice, good flavor to it. It's located behind Pilots next to Anytime Fitness I highly recommend it.

The food was horrible leg quarters very dry untasty. BBQ bake beans was disgusting. This business has the potential to be a 5star⭐ due in part the owner cares about the customer and work to make things right. Other items that was cooked was hot and delicious. Yet & still i give it a two star first impression...
