The good, bad and just weird.
Good. Had the potential to be the nicest irons course around. Course layout is pretty wide open and forgiving if that's what you're looking for. The buildings have been nicely renovated and it looks like they have plans to make it much nicer in that respect. The ladies/servers inside the restaurant were very nice also.
Bad Fairways weren't mowed very well and the areas around the fairways are pretty unkept. Greens are the worst I've ever played.... And I've played some really really bad courses . I understand that's it's new owners and they are in the process of fixing these issues. When they do, as mentioned above, it will be the best irons course around.
The Weird There are tables and an attempt at a really nice restaurant inside a golf shop. Amongst the golf equipment and the front desk. It's an irons course.... An appropriate restaurant would be an awesome bar with good food and maybe a pool table and darts. What they're trying to do just doesn't fit and it's very awkward. I read that the restaurant is very expensive also. Big golf courses with huge clubhouses and nicer facilities can get away with this. Also weird, the rules on the counter say collared shirts required. Again.... It's an irons course. I think they need to take what this course is and make it awesome! Not try to make it what it is not. As mentioned above the waitresses were very nice! But it was also weird to go into the restaurant/golf shop/pay counter and have the waitresses come over for us to pay for our golf.
Overall the course is probably at least a year if not two from being playable. Definitely doabled, as Palo Cedro/Grape Ranch has done it. I may try back in a couple years and change this rating. We left after the sixth hole today because it just...
Read moreWill definitely be back! I want to try more of the menu and it was also just so good!!
Food: samosa was the best I’ve had in the red bluff/redding vicinity! And I’ve tried everywhere. Worth mentioning, the chicken in curry was boneless breast pieces!🙌 thank goodness, somewhere they didn’t cut corners on quality to keep down cost- I would not even buy it if it were thigh meat, please never change this! Curries themselves were not as rich or flavorful as they could be. They were very good, but the spices (not just heat, but spices) feel very toned down and not fully authentic that homemade would be. I can make it myself & have had authentic n homemade. Also medium heat was actually very mild… wish it had been medium! I also had to add a little salt to bring out the flavors, but was still good! Roti and rice were very good! Chai was great👌 loved the extra spice in the chai today!
Service: friendly, quick! I could see if it were busy with the size of the space per amount of servers, that they could struggle with current set up though. But it wasn’t and we had great service!
Ambience: again best in the Redding.tax bluff area for Indian food! By a landslide- so nice. I would stop here for a casual lunch, or come...
Read moreAll I have to say is WOW, if you had been to the original golf course or had even heard about it you would know why I say WOW. They have given it much more than a face lift! Its a whole new area!!! The food is absolutely outstanding, the choice of wines and beers are great, they are adding features that many golf courses around do not have, they have the utmost respect and customer service you could ever imagine!! The fairways are getting back to being top notch and with the good winter we're suppose to have its going to be fantastic to play. You won't be disappointed if you stop in, whether it be for bottomless mimosas, happy hour, fish n chips, a great burger or a mouth watering dinner, even a round of golf; the folks at Sully's at Oak Creek Golf Course will leave you with a smile and a full belly!!!
