Dicky's Clam Shack — Restaurant in Rehoboth

Food was just ok,, and it is a clam shack, so you cannot expect much atmosphere. What you should know is there are no restroom facilities other than two portapotties outside. If this fact is not a problem for you, than give it a try. I am adding a comment here after receiving a response from the owner. Number one, I write reviews to provide info for others to make a choice of where they will eat. Number two, I mentioned atmosphere not because of your rather sarcastic response that you were sorry that you did not meet atmospheric standards, but because all I saw was the enclosed eating facility. I did not see the river or Adirondack Chairs facing the river and had no idea that was available. Number three, I had no idea that the law prevented you from providing indoor restroom facilities. Perhaps you are young and have not met with the challenges of the elderly. I was with two friends, one of whom suffers from dementia. The portapottie was a confusing experience for her, and had I known there were no inside restroom facilities, I would have gone elsewhere. Now that is not your problem. You cannot be all things to all people. But I thought that others might want to know that if they have certain mobility, visual , or cognitive disabilities. For the comfort and safety of your patrons, you should want people to know that. Last but not least, I did not tell people not to go to your business. I had fried clams and they were fine. I found them smaller in size than I have had elsewhere, which is why I said the food was just ok. My friend had clamcakes and I thought they were the best I have had in the area. I would definitely go back for takeout. I think you had a big over reaction to my review. Perhaps knowing where I was coming from might have tempered...

Decided in the extreme heat yesterday, friday 7/23, that we would "indulge" and grab some clam strips for dinner. Arrived around 7p and placed our order. The young man at the order counter was pleasant, professional and quick. Paid the extra $2 for the "upcharge" to onion rings instead of fries. Took nearly 20 mins from the time our was placed to the time it was ready. There were 4 total orders (including ours) taken during the time we were there. The young lady in the back was on her phone as we waited and appeared uninterested in her work. My one thought (with the amount of time it took to get our order) was that I hoped it was not overcooked. No such luck!! Most of the strips we so overcooked there was no real way to chew them, the onion "rings" weren't really rings they were more like strings (which isn't a totally bad thing) and were virtually nonexistent and the entire bottom of the container was filled with burnt pieces that were not identifiable. There was a also puddle of oil at the bottom of each of our containers (wasn't even warm enough to have been soaked in to the container material itself) and neither of us are feeling well this morning. VERY disappointed! Will definitely NOT be returning and will be patronizing Blount...

Returned Today.. . 1 year or so later. Not much of an improvement. Lobster roll on a hot dog bun over priced and under sized. The outdoor tables are sticky and over all dirty. The logo "lifetime" that is embossed in the table is outlined in dirt. I told the owner who quickly dismissed me saying I will have someone clean them. Something that should be done every time someone leaves. The fish looks to be flounder, I know its not Cod way to thin. Dicky's is on my do not go to list. Will check back for better reviews... Maybe next year.

Follow up to owner response. There is that attitude again. Tables haven't been cleaned thoroughly overall. The dirt is embedded in the table logo. As for the accident I was trying to avoid one. The parking is so degraded when you pull out it isn't at street level. When a vehicle is coming over the top of the hill you better pray they don't hit you, traveling at the speed they do making it a dangerous place to pull out of. Don't forget the lovely out house's baking in the sun. So I guess I will never return to Dirtys clam shack ever. Please note I have over 211 reviews and its just a shame you can't get past a 1...
