What a bad experience! After coming here for over 25 years, always stopping on my way in and out from Reno. My 1st disappointing visit.
We drove thru 4 hours of heavy snow knowing our next stop would be here, and we would stop for a delicious hot meal.
Boy were we wrong, our waitress was rude, we had to get our own silverware and the food was cold!
The ham must have been reheated because it had burnt marks but when I tried my first bite it was rubbery. Now if they would of been extremely busy I would of totally understood our waitress's reaction. Besides my family there was just one other couple in the restaurant.
When asked if she could please warm up our food, she looked at me like I had 3 heads. After her reaction my husband and I looked at each other and knew we just angered her. At that point we decided to tell her to please disregard, we changed our minds. She must have seen our reaction as she immediately changed her tone. We ended up not getting our two breakfast plates reheated and picked at them while our 2 other companions ate.
We decided that maybe it was just our bad luck to come in on a night with a new waitress. I believe she is new because she did not know what the "Ranch House Special" was. I had to show her on the "NEW" menu what I was ordering. The Ranch House Special name had been on this menu up to the point when the new manager came in and redid the menu. We found our about the new manager later on that evening. Or possibly because we came in late not our usual 11am.
Well, needless to say we will still be coming back for breakfast with our usual waitress and hope this experience won't...
Read moreMy husband and myself just got back from having breakfast and when we received our food, it was cold! The waitress was very shocked to say the least, my husband was very disappointed and so was I. The waitress "warmed" my breakfast up, but the home fries were the only thing sort of warm. When my husband and myself came here before the renovation everything was spot on. The waitresses were awesome, the food was excellent, no complaints. This experience has changed our view tremendously. I have to say as well, to charge $3.99 for a soda, ice tea etc, is outrageous. When we came here last I believe your drinks were $1.99 or at the most $2.99. Back when the RV park use to give out coupons, and you could get your prime rib, 2 for 1. I can't imagine what it would be like after this experience. I like the renovation that was done, but it should reflect the type of food you serve as well. If that isn't the case, go back to the old model and serve your excellent food. Some times updating isn't always the best. My husband and I loved the old restaurant and wouldn't mind paying the price for food and service.

Read moreThere is rarely a host(ess) to seat us, but I usually just walk in and find someone. (Mainly because I am an impatient MF). I have never met such a great staff no matter what time of day we go there to eat. Friendly and personable. And if you've read any of my reviews, you know I am very particular in my judgment of personnel. But what speaks the loudest at Sierra Cafe is the food, of course. We had breakfast last time and I had the Ribeye Steak and Eggs. The steak is the first and most important part of the meal, because that is what sets the price. (If your eggs, potatoes or toast aren't perfect, who cares? As long as that Ribeye is good)! But in this situation it was ALL good. The steak was charred perfectly without affecting the perfect medium rare. Home fries were spot-on as well as my over medium eggs. My hats off to the chef and I hope he is there next time we go to eat at...
