Only two tables in the place, or was it three? Not a sit down, full fledged pizzeria. Amazing ratings of 5 Stars sold us. What if this place makes a great, unrivaled pizza. According to the glowing reviews, they did. So we went there, thinking it would be buzzing with customers, like most outstanding places tend to be. People populate the best, that is the norm. The place was like an oversized kitchen, one pizza maker in the front. No team working tirelessly to keep up with a briskly business. We ordered the family special, paid an extra two dollars for additional topping. Received two large side pizzas. One called Whitestone, consisting of fresh garlic, creamy cheese, and fresh basil. Similar to other white pizzas out there. Dough not too thick, not too thin, nicely done but with a little dry on the edges. Modest amount of toppings, but overall decent. Certainly no masterpiece that the perfect ratings led to assume. Next one, pepperoni and sausage. Neither topping uniquely special, sausage better than other places. Oily out of the oven, average amount of ingredients, not overly generous. The size of their slices larger than average. Taste not incredibly impressive, more and more wondering where the 5 Stars are earned? Service courteous, better than most. Total: $32+. For some this place is obviously the very best there is for pizza enthusiasts, and I guess that perception is strong enough, and is not for me to discredit such a vast number of perfect...
Read moreAlright, let's take a moment to reflect. This establishment does not deserve 5 stars for service nor food. This place is one of those places that has high reviews, so that when you go you automatically think it's good, but in reality it's really just average. Something is fishy because I was there for a good 25-30 minutes at lunchtime, and no one else came in during that period.
Firstly, the staff is really friendly, they make you feel welcomed. I was becoming impressed, but it took a turn when they forgot to give me my slices. They re-did them in the oven, and when it was delivered, the wait time was brushed off, thinking I didn't notice what they did after waiting 10 minutes for 2 slices to be warmed. There was no apology, which I would have expected at the least, because things happen, or even an offer of something else. I would say they are good at appearing nice, but it stops there.
The pizza itself is mixed and not consistent. I got a pepperoni and a white slice. The white slice had a way thinner crust, it was almost burnt, too crispy, and the cheese was burnt bubbles. The pepperoni was better, it had a thicker crust, was soft and chewy, but pretty bland by itself.
I don't live in the area, but it probably is really good for the area, but in general, it's not as good as it...
Read moreI was not personally fond of the pizza I had from their food truck, though I don't think the quality was bad overall.
Felt like the individual pizza quality suffered from the high order volume of the event I was at, mostly. Would love to have pizza from the restaurant on a good day and update this review.
Editing in a reply for the business: The pizza wasn't BAD but I feel like the time it took for them to be brought in to the event from the truck (Probably because of the order volume) meant:
some of the pizzas had time to soak in their own grease which made it hard to plate without a slice falling apart OR didn't have much grease and had enough time to cool down before being brought in that the bottom had grown tough/chewy.
I do want to be very clear that I don't think the pizza was bad, just that the workload seemed rather high and I think it diminished what otherwise would have been a great one. Thank you for reaching out to ask about what I had an issue with. I'm still very impressed with folks' ability to keep up...
