I came to Birdâs Nest expecting bar food. What I got was a culinary sĂ©ance conducted by Wisconsin wizards. I ordered the fish fry and bit into a fillet so crispy it triggered a past-life regressionâI briefly remembered being a lighthouse keeper named Sven.
The burger? A greasy thunder god on a bun. Bacon so thick it filed my taxes. Cheese that whispered secrets in Old Norse.
A bartender handed me a beer I didnât order and simply said, âTrust the Nest.â I did. Time slowed down. A nearby deer nodded in approval through the window.
By the end of the night, someone handed me a glow stick and a bratwurst and told me I was âready.â I donât know for what. I still donât. But I feel changed.

   Read moreIf I could give 4.5 stars, I think that would be spot on for Birds Nest. The food doesn't "wow" or blow you away, but I would say it's better than your average Northern WI bar. No disappointments here. Generous serving sizes, great prices and good attention to detail. The bartender (Cathy) overheard me telling my friend I really liked shoestring fries but they didn't come with the meal I ordered.    Read moreSolid place overall, staff is super friendly. The bartender sat down and ate/talked with us for almost our whole visit, which my partner was okay with but I certainly wanted some space.
Menu is confusingly laid out and not updated. Half of the menu was sold out/they didn't have because of the pandemic and changing stocks.
Overall good value for what you get, and I mean it was literally the only place open in town for food, so we didn't have much else...
