Gull Lake Country Club — Restaurant in Richland Township

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Gull Lake Country Club, and overall, it was a beautiful day. The dinner and bar service were excellent, and the food was amazing—our guests are still talking about it! The lakeside location is absolutely stunning, especially in the summertime, and made for a gorgeous backdrop. That said, there were a few things we were told to expect that didn’t quite happen. During the ceremony, we were assured that beachgoers near the ceremony space would be asked to move and that the fake coyote statue (used to deter birds) would be removed. Neither of those happened, and both were visible during the ceremony. Not a huge issue, but disappointing since it was communicated beforehand.

We were also told the club remaining open to members wouldn’t be a problem, and that members are generally respectful of weddings. Unfortunately, after the ceremony, we returned to the bridal suite (which is in the locker room area) to find members in the room looking through our belongings. The lack of privacy was frustrating and not what we expected on our wedding day.

Food and venue were awesome for our wedding! Unfortunately the wait staff and communication between wait staff and manager/coordinator was an absolute joke and almost ruined our night. The bartenders were sending guests up to me and my now wife to ask us to up the wine limits because they grossly under estimated and were pouring only 4 glasses of wine per bottle, the manager on the ground the night off was asking direction from anyone who would listen, which we told the coordinator to only come to us, and the coordinator and banquet manager seemed to have basically never met.
