It's a solid atmosphere & versatile venue. Usually the food is quite inviting. The chef Monday through Friday is unbelievable. The weekend chef needs some definite guidance. We've been there with family, friends, and clients multiple times.
Took the wife today for our anniversary, it was subpar. Beyond subpar. The only reason we didn't say anything was because we respected our waitress so much.
We could have gone literally many places within a 2 hour radius, but we chose here. Very disappointed. Ordered a dish we have enjoyed several times. The pork chop, potatoes with Mornay sauce, Brussel sprouts...the chop was dry, potatoes lacked any cheese or sauce, and the brussels were not acidic, charred or salted properly...I hope it was simply this weekend chef and not an attempt at them chinicng on quality & still trying to charge more money.
The staff is always solid, which makes this review somewhat painful. I don't want to detract from the hard work of the staff, but consistency is a stable principle of restaurant longevity. Is the quality gone here now? I hope not.
For $100 for two people, I expect far better food quality. Too much to mention. They didn't serve us their famous bread and homemade butter we've come to love. They advertised "Jalapeño potatoe soup" and when we got there they were already out. Just seems like some miscommunication and/or poor management.
I worked in a high end restaurant, I understand the demands and variables, but this is not a high end restaurant. It is, was, a decent restaurant that we could count on. Are those days gone?
We recommend...
Read moreThis is a good restaurant with the potential to be truly great. The service staff is courteous and polite. While certain aspects of the menu are very good (Maple Pork chop), others were disappointing (green beans were smothered in sauce which did nothing to add to their flavor and would have been better unsauced). The scalloped potato side dish was dismal at best, over sauced overwhelmed with cheese this dish is best skipped. This was only part of a confusing experience, if you are trying to be upscale the staff dress should be uniform not capris on some and slacks on others, this may seem a minor point but it gets noticed in a restaurant where you are dropping a significant amount of money. This brings me to the salad bar which was another confusing aspect of a restaurant trying to be upscale, this feature is right out of an old country buffet and is not a good value for $16. The wait staff is in need of training in order to increase their speed accuracy and attention to detail. It took three requests to get water and the service overall was polite but slow, our waiter seemed to be overwhelmed during a slow period as the restaurant was not busy. When the check arrived there were errors on it that had to be corrected before check out. Overall the experience was inconsistent with some bright spots but more areas that need work than not. Finally while this is a good restaurant overall it needs work to become truly outstanding. Would not drive out of my way to...
Read moreThis area has a limited range of choices for going out to get a good meal. To find a locally owned restaurant with a good atmosphere, good food and an awesome staff is amazing. My husband and I went here on a whim since we had the evening to ourselves. The wait was less than expected, service was fast and attentive and our waitress was quick to resolve any issues and answer questions. We were both impressed that she asked my husband to cut into his pork chop before she left the table to make sure it was cooked to his specifications.
The restaurant was warm, inviting and the booth where we were seated made us feel cozy and private. The decor was modern, colorful and interesting. If you go during the day, especially in Spring and Summer, the windows that surround the dining room give a spectacular view of the golf course and beautiful trees all around the area.
The only reason I give a 4 out of 5 is because there is still room for improvement. The tables are showing their age and need refinished. The sweet-savory balance of the food skews more toward sweet and can potentially be an issue for diabetics, hypoglycemics and those following a strict low carb diet. I was a little disappointed in the Kobe burger. The meat texture and flavor was similar to a burger I'd had at BurgerFi but with less seasoning. The flavor of the food is almost perfect. We are glad though to have a decent restaurant...
