We used to frequent and love this place until yesterday; the Banh Mi was always a must and we enjoyed the "combo" which was the sandwich and a canned drink included. Yesterday I visited with a friend and ordered the usual, including two Banh Mi pork "combos" and the waiter got our drink order (included) and acknowledged the "combo" as still active; we got our order and as usual the food was good but much to our chagrin when it came time to pay we were charged for the drinks; a lady behind the counter let us know that the "combo" was no more. In a "normal" world, they would have honored our "combos" as the waiter had acknowledged them being active but I guess in this abnormal world we're in, the lady behind the counter thought it was more important to get her $3.50 for the drinks, forget our patronage and the waiter forgo his tip; sadly, this is going to be our last trip here. If an owner has the gall to trade customers for $3.50 so be it- that's the price she paid to forgo...
Read moreI went to Pho Houston in McAllen and was so excited to learn they were coming to my hometown in Rio Grande.
I tried the brisket Pho and the House Fried Rice
Pho was hot and so flavorful. The broth was exactly what you'd expect from good pho. Meat was a good portion and so were the rice noodles. Good serving of bean sprouts too. Just all around good pho! Large portion bowl you will fill up pho sure đ
House Fried Rice- it included shrimp, chicken, and pork and was tasty. Again exactly what you'd expect from Fried rice. And very large portion.
The restaurant itself is quiet and well lit but has dark shades to keep out the very hot sun.
Great place for date night, family dinner, or hanging with friends. The staff is friendly and waiters are pretty young so don't be rude to them they are learning â¤ď¸
This will be my go-to lunch and dinner spot.
Sadly didn't remember to take picture until I was halfway...
Read moreAs someone whoâs both traveled and lived in Southeast Asia, I can confidently say Pho Huston delivers the real deal. Mr. Jimmy and Kim craft truly authentic Vietnamese dishes at refreshingly fair prices.
I especially enjoyed my bowl of pho (pronounced âphuâ), which was rich, aromatic, and comfortingâjust as it should be. The service was equally impressive, with Christine going above and beyond to make the meal feel special.
There are many other options on their menu, which are all healthy and tasty. They also have a great range of drinks from Thai Ice Tea to Modelo.
Itâs absolutely worth the drive, and Iâll be coming back without question. For anyone craving genuine Vietnamese flavors in the valley, Pho Huston should be at the top...
