Tony and I went to the Fairplains Yacht club for lunch. We haven't been since 2017 so we thought we Would give them another whirl. When we got there the parking lot looked quite full but the inside didn't match the exterior. We were greeted and Is met quickly. And the hostess took us to a seat in the middle of the floor I mean it was like an empty warehouse with tables scattered here and there and up to the far right was a bar with chairs and bottles and glasses. Hanging on the wall behind it the whole place looks kind of discombobulated...
Our way trust is very friendly but she didn't introduce herself so I Am yet to know her name. She took our drink quarter and tony was very happy to find out that they had Pabst blue ribbon Beer available in the can but that's the way likes it and I got me a Iced unsweetened tea With lemon And lime
Tony and I and I looked over the menu and decided to share a couple of items. I decided on symbolus wings and buffalo sauce with blue cheese and ranch for dipping. And we went with a mushroom burger can't quite remember the name but all the burgers there had some kind of unique name to them. The burger for the month of may was the fiesta burger
They have a pool table for your enjoyment and the bars rather long with the bar stools. There was quite a few employees and our food took a good amount of time which we like. We personally feel that when the food takes a while to cook it means it's more freshly prepared to us and not yesterday's leftovers.
The food was pretty good I mean I would order it again and go there again. Really enjoyed the mushroom we ordered? The. Hamburger well done and that's exactly how we got it and it was really good. Not a huge fan of the homemade chips or the french fries they were well way way to crisp For my taste. The boneless wings was pretty good, wouldn't say That I would definitely need to have them again definitely they're craving them but but pretty adequate. I would definitely go back but I wouldn't have to hurry back. There are some restaurants when I leave I dread it. I really want to go back and try something else immediately unfortunately this was not...

Time, it seems, has cast an amber hue over the Fairplain Yacht Club, preserving its redneck charm while eroding the once-proud culinary foundation. The decor remains a nostalgic tableau, a testament to years of convivial gatherings and boisterous revelry. The beer selection, however, has undergone a renaissance, boasting a respectable array of craft brews to entice even the most discerning palate.
Yet, like a ship run aground, the food has suffered a precipitous decline. The departure of the former cook marked a turning point, leaving a void in the kitchen that has yet to be filled. The flavors, though still echoing the past, are muted, the portions occasionally diminished. What was once a culinary destination has become merely passable, a shadow of its former glory.
The monthly burger specials, once a source of anticipation, have devolved into a gastronomic gauntlet of questionable concoctions. These culinary experiments, often teetering on the brink of inedibility, range from the tragically bland to the outright bizarre. It's a testament to the resilience of the human palate that anyone can stomach some of these creations.
In the final analysis, the Fairplain Yacht Club remains a beloved institution, its nostalgic charm and improved beer selection offering solace to its loyal patrons. However, the culinary decline is undeniable, a poignant reminder of what once was. Until the kitchen rediscovers its former magic, the Fairplain Yacht Club will remain a haven for beer enthusiasts, but a culinary shipwreck for those seeking a memorable...
Read moreThe moment I walked in, I loved this place!!! It is a restaurant and bar in one. Actually a sports bar as well, with all of the big screen TVs. However, we went there to enjoy a Sunday meal! We were greeted by a hostess and escorted to our table. Ms. Kylee was there in no time, smiling and peppy! I absolutely love that! 😁 She was quick to take our drink orders and recommended specials and Burger of the month. I was the designated driver, so I didn't pick any of the beers or cocktails - even though it was enticing! Also, it was my first time there, just wanted to look at the menu first to get a feel of the dishes offered. For our appetizers we went plain with the mozzarella cheese sticks and potato boats. Kylee brought us small plates for us to share, without us even asking. A big thumbs up! You rock, Kylee! (Almost forgot to take pictures! Wanted to dig in 😁!) As for our meal, the new burger of the month with Provolone cheese, Cole slaw and fries was chosen. I went for the special: shrimp boil. Yum! Tasty! While we were eating, other customers played pool or sat at the bar and watched TV. Wonder what it is like at night... need to come by then. Shot a video, 2 actually, to try to capture the ambience and activity there. Definitely another "go...
