Love this place. Ever since they opened we come here nearly every Tuesday evening. They’re open late and always have fresh and great tasting food.
I’ve probably had more different menu items here than at any Mexican place ever.
My favorites are the Quesabirria and the mulitas with various meats.
The mulita makes a great option when you want a quesadilla but don’t want the hugeness of a big quesadilla.
The tacos are basic, in a good way. Not any modern attempts to make them fancy, just meat, tortilla, onion and cilantro.
The menu setup is great, basically, pick the type of food (taco, burrito, quesadilla, mulita, etc) then which meat you want (all the usual suspects and all then some…)
But there’s also a specialty menu for things like fish and shrimp, breakfast items and even a cheesesteak (haven’t tried that yet!).
The red salsa is very hot. Even some of the staff often warns about it and say they can only take a small bit of it. I’ve gotten so used to it that other hot sauces just don’t have the kick they used to.
The staff is super friendly and always helpful. The restaurant is always clean and orderly.
The only complaint is really something that can’t be changed: the parking. The lot is VERY small and tight, sometimes it can be difficult to get in or out, and the street it is on doesn’t allow for any real street...
Read moreI was really excited when Takos Lokos first opened because it’s close to home. However, my experience has been disappointing from the start—not because of the taste of the food, but because of how long it takes to get my order and the constant mistakes.
The first time I went, I figured the long wait was due to them being new. So after that, I started calling ahead to avoid waiting at the restaurant, but even then, I still had to wait about 15 minutes when I arrived. Unfortunately, every single time I’ve been there, they have gotten my order wrong.
After taking a long break from this place, my husband and I decided to give it one last chance today. Just like every other time, they messed up my order—I was missing two tacos out of the twelve I ordered. I should have checked before leaving, but after waiting 47 minutes, I just wanted to get out of there.
The food itself is mid, often cold, overpriced, and honestly not what a real Mexican taqueria should be. I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel like this place desperately needs more cooks in the kitchen and more cashiers in the front to keep things running smoothly.
Bottom line: If you go here, be prepared for a long wait, and if you’re ordering takeout, double-check your food...
Read moreI stopped in for tacos and huevos rancheros while I had some auto work done across the street. This was the most revolting food I've ever had served to me. I wasn't able to eat most of it because it was either too overcooked to be edible or it was disgusting. The fried eggs in the huevos rancheros were overcooked and crusty on the bottom, so much so that I couldn't cut it with the plastic knife. The tacos were overpriced and bland. NO ONE working there spoke English, so it was a chore just ordering the food, and the price on the menu didn't match what came up on the register. When I was there, there was a young man working the counter and one cook. The waiting time for my food was something like 25 minutes, just for huevos rancheros and some tacos. That is intolerable.
This is a Mexican take out restaurant that doesn't need to exist. Riverside already has its share of very good Mexican restaurants. Don't be fooled by the five-star reviews, because they're fake. This place doesn't have a lot of repeat business because when people discover how bad the food is, they don't return. The only reason they're still in business is because of the...
