Stopped by Mr. Taco on the way home for dinner. I grew up with it down the street all my life but it has been a while. Was pleasantly surprised to see different items on the menu that included mariscos. My girlfriend and I shared 2 octopus tacos, shrimp taco, and carne asada torta. All of it was delicious. The octopus taco was my favorite, seemed like a corn quesadilla with a lot of cheese stuffed with generous amount of octopus and other ingredients. My girlfriend liked it but she wasn't sure of the cheese and octopus mix. Octopus taco came with some kind of spicy mayo sauce. Shrimp taco was good and the batter for each shrimp crispy. All tortas come with beans, lettuce tomatoes, onions, avocado, and ham and our choice of meat was carne asada. Also added a generous amount of fries. For drinks we had a michelada and horchata. Their mix was really good and I would get again. Will be back to try their campechana. Atmosphere got a 4 as it is a bit cramped when it gets busy. They have live music with a man in accordion and another in guitar but they take some of the walking space. Also had a vendor selling nuts and mexican candy. They also have TVs that play sports. For service, aside from ordering and dropping off food, never saw them again but I don't think it's that kind of restaurant. Feels more of a sidewalk taco stand, or clandestine home restaurant...
Read moreThe food gets 5 stars, the service gets 4 stars, and the atmosphere gets 3 stars. I have been eating at this location only for the past 2 years, and the food is always great! The service needs to be worked on. And the atmosphere is a little chaotic. There's always loud, drunken people on the inside when I'm ordering my food; so it's nearly impossible for the me to give my order correctly the first time due to the woman at the front being unable to hear me. The floor is a bit messy each and everytime I walk through, and I hardly ever see a waitress wipe down the tables and chairs after guests leave. I usually have to take my food to go due to the mess. And after sitting down, when the waitress brings my food, I have never been asked if I need anything else; I have to ask for napkins and utensils. If the food weren't so good, I would definitely stop visiting. Hoping that the owner reminds the waitresses and waitors how to clean and maintain a comfortable environment. Again, food is wonderful; service can...
Read moreThis is a pretty good local spot. I try to stop in when im at electronics warehouse right down the street. This place is always packed. Its got a nice litle outside patio, and a just a few tables inside. Its a really tiny place.
Once inside youll notice the giant menu up top and the iced beers below. To the right is a deli window woth all kinds of chopped fruit! Ive only tried 2 things here, the taquitos, and the shrimp burrito. Both are prerty amazing. I always get a few beers too. They are tall boys. You can get a frozen gass with lime inside and rimmed with tajin too. Heaven! There is a delicious salsa bar as well. They have a really good red salsa and a yummy avocado and habanero salsa. Also, there is a pickled red onion and habanero medly.
I do remommend coming on non lunch hours. This olace is a zoo with little parking.
As crowded as they are they always bring the food out quickly, i think this is one of the reasons they've gotten so popular.
Until...
