Fair prices, good service, excellent sushi! I honestly can't say enough about this place. The fish is absolutely the freshest and masterfully prepared. The other dishes from the kitchen are amazing too. The atmosphere is lovely whether you're alone with your kid at the sushi bar (which hasn't happened for me since 2019) or it's a packed house (my typical experience since they reopened). The staff is always friendly no matter how incredibly busy they are. I really should take photos of the gorgeous sushi/meals, but I get too excited by the time it's delivered to me to not eat it right away. This is my favorite sushi spot in the Tampa Bay area, hands down!
Update: this place is the absolute best! I'm never disappointed by their sushi!
Update again: Google wants me to say how things have changed since my last update and they haven't. This place is consistent and so so so good! We popped in for a happy hour snack and absolutely went overboard. The food is too good! Don't go here if you lack self-control. Or do. It's worth it! One thing I want to note is that our server asked before bringing us waters if the kids should have styrofoam cups with lids or glasses. This might seem like such a little thing, but it was so thoughtful and a big deal to one of our kids in particular. I really appreciate that he gave us the option and honestly, it's a good move environmentally to not default to styrofoam for kids. There are so many reasons why this is my favorite place.
Google wants updates again: We got carryout and it was spectacular! This place should have 10/5 stars because the maximum allowable stars is just not enough! The service was as good as it gets (I waited briefly in the restaurant for my order and the service staff was so very nice)! The sushi is the absolute best quality and the hot dishes are amazing as well! The specialty rolls are very creative and the classics are expertly executed with an abundance of fresh ingredients! I honestly can't say enough about this place. It is hands down...
Read moreI've been twice, first time I had specials and it blew my socks off - A5 Wagyu, oToro, special roll that was out of this world (don't remember the name) so I decided to go back for my birthday because of it. I messaged them and setup a reservation, asked about the specials and told them I couldn't wait to spend my birthday there when I confirmed a 6:00 reservation for 6 + baby.
First, they seat us and begin to tell us about their new policy that you only have 90 minutes from when they put in your food to finish eating. I get it, in current times with half capacity, table turnover is very important for profits but there's a completely different way to approach that. Their current approach was a huge turnoff from the very beginning.
Next, I ask about ordering some of the specials they told me about the day before. They're out of them! Yes, they're all out at 6PM, not even that late. Okay, whatever, it happens so we order other stuff.
The food was just ehh... We ordered an appetizer that had "onion chips", which sounded interesting, since they didn't have the app I wanted. They served it - no onion chips. By the time we saw our waitress again, they were gone - they were still good but not great. Found out that the onion chips are just french's onions.
We split 3 or 4 of the 'special' rolls - of which we really liked 1 of them and the other were okay but just weren't anything to remember.
Lastly, I didn't EXPECT anything but since many restaurants do something for people on their birthday - nothing here. No discount for the messed up appetizer, nothing.
Needless to say, I'm pretty discouraged by this last visit and honestly don't know if I'll go back now that I've found E-Sushi in Apollo Beach. This place was ranked higher on my list until this last visit, such a...
Read moreWorst dining experience my wife and I have ever been a part of. I'll start by saying my wife has a severe shellfish allergy which we are aware of the risks when eating sushi. We have been to many sushi restaurants and she orders rolls with fish such as tuna, and I order rolls with shellfish and it is never a problem. We asked politely if they could bring the rolls on separate plates because of the allergy. Not only would they not do that, but also, apparently they only have one knife and one plate to make sushi and they won't clean it to accommodate people with allergies. We also ordered pork dumplings, and because they pan fry shellfish in the same pan and also refused to clean it, they would not serve us that as well. So we offered to just pay for our drinks (2 sodas), however, they have a 10 dollar minimum credit card purchase which we were not aware of and we didn't have any cash on hand. The server told us it was fine and just go, but they really embarrassed us in front of the other customers. In fact, they chef chastised us for even going to a seafood restaurant saying very sternly, "Do not come to a seafood restaurant if you have allergies" loud and clear in front of all the customers. My wife was humiliated. She is not allergic to seafood, just shellfish which is pretty common. We have never been so embarrassed and unwelcomed. I would comment on the food but we never had a chance to try it, however, I can tell you that this is the most unprofessional and unwelcoming establishment I have ever stepped foot in. I strongly suggest going...
