China Taste — Restaurant in Roanoke

The atmosphere is the best part about the place. I thought because of great reviews that maybe it was a fluke but nope this time I asked for a refund. We have finished trying to eat our lunch and couldn't do that. The atmosphere is the best part of the restaurant they should have just gave me my money back. Obviously something fishy is going on here. I called and asked why the egg roll is dripping handfuls of oil, the rice is crunchy and smells like dog food. The chicken is so big you need to cut it up to even eat with just a fork. I asked if she knew the rice is inedible she says it was made this morning umm I can eat rice made yesterday and it still doesn't feel this way. Both times I have eaten here the food was thrown away. The menu is the biggest problem. My food on their menu inside the restaurant says $7.95 on my receipt it's rung up as $9.75 and then extra charges for egg and shrimp egg roll... I don't understand to charge so much and then someone tells you they can't even enjoy it and oh sorry no refunds. There's no way people are racing so hard about this place and it's been horrid 2 separate times...

Horrible place to eat! I went twice thinking that the food would be better the second time and it was a miserable fail! Not only did I become sick a day later the first visit and I thought it was the flu but the second time I had the same symptoms! So it wasn't the flu the first time like my doctor tried to convince me, but it was the poor hygiene and bathroom and kitchen conditions of the restaurant and the owners. The woman at the cash register who owns it is rude and only smiles when you finally order something. I have heard her mean to people on the phone! No wonder the place is always empty! And her husband who cooks was whiping sweat and not cleaning his hands the first and second time i went and the third he was in his nose. The woman the second time came out of the bathroom while i was in the bathroom and didn't wash her hands!!!!!!!!! Nasty people! Don't eat here! I thought i saw a roach in the bathroom to when i went the second time! Unsanitary! Don't eat here unless you want flu conditions like I did both times! It would be a 0 if that...

First visit, and pleasantly surprised. Ordered take out, as it was unclear if dine in was available. There are several booths that appear usable, but no one was eating in on my visit. Not the friendliest greeting from the lady at the counter when ordering, but my food arrived hot, fresh and cooked to order. Portion size was excellent and a great value for the price. Give this hidden gem a shot!

Edit: Second visit not nearly as positive as the first. Ordered General Tso's and Pork Hunan Style. Threw 90% in the trash. Both were nearly inedible. General Tso's had no discernible chicken at all. Literally just the overcooked batter in sauce. The pork was just chewy and salty. Portion size ordering a small dinner vs the original combo size was also far smaller. So disappointing after a good first visit. Maybe just an off night in the kitchen, or a different cook possibly. Either way, not excited to give them another try...
