Waco is a halfway point for us. We were meeting up at Health Camp so the kiddos could spend a week with grandma. We got there early, parked behind Rudy's and happened to see the Bare Arms sign.
We looked at each other and said, "is that a taphouse!?" And we happened to be there while they were open. So after grandma and the kiddos left, we went straight over.
The operation is small. I think they've been there about two years. The taphouse is smallish as well but welcoming and comfortable. We went in, introduced ourselves as out if town and excited to try a new place. We decided to try a flight to get to know the place. The flight came out in painted muffin tins, which was something I hadn't seen before but was kinda cool. Will have to remember that. So we drank and talked to the guys behind the bar and they told us about the place.
Staff was friendly and knowledgable. The place clean. We didn't participate but they had a lot of board/table games that several patrons were playing. Stayed about an hour & a half and ended up getting additional full pints of their Java Joule (coffee stout) and Lux (american lager - easy to drink).
We had a good time talking with the guys behind the counter (and even some customers) and will definitely go back when we can. Hope they do well enough to grow a bit, maybe get a little more visible. I think we only saw them by accident.

First off, who knew Waco was "cool" now? Second, this place had some surprisingly good beers for such a new-ish (they are 3yrs old) place.
The ambiance is very chill, and Ron, the guy behind the bar was so nice! He was also a wealth of knowledge regarding anything and everything Waco!
I did the flight and each beer I had was pretty true to style w/my favs being the 1849 and 1849 barrel-aged as well as the Java Joule!
It was also really cool talking w/one of the owners and being a total astronerd! Everyone was just so welcoming, gracious, and kind! The wife of one of the owners even gave me a rec on where to find a local bluebonnet field!
They also have a cool "mug club" and there was what looked to be a delicious pizza food truck in the parking lot.
It looks like it is popular w/locals and has its regulars as the place started to fill up about 30mins or so after I got there.
Will def be back if and when I am in Waco again as the vibe here is something I...
Read moreWe enjoyed all the beers we tried, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Additionally, the burgers were among the best we have had and we can’t even pinpoint what magic made them so good! The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my meal was safe for my dairy allergy, which I really appreciate and find is rare. The slaw is dairy-free and a spicy delight. The bun was dairy-free and, though I didn’t have the beans, they were also dairy-free. We are going to drive through there on our way home just so we can eat and drink there again! This is the stop that convinced my husband to make a 6 hour road trip and now he is not only willing but wants to repeat the drive so we can...
