Ping's — Restaurant in Rochester Hills

Sadly, I can no longer highly recommend Pings. Something has changed since summertime 2022, a new cook maybe🤔 Their almond chicken and beef were recently still good and tender, but fried rice was dry, like hard pellets, maybe old from fridge and it dried out too much before reheating? Phone etiquette is rude, very rushed. They seldom answer phone on weekend near dinner time; will pick up and hang up over and over. I had to go in person to place order, wait 30 minutes in my car after being hung up on multiple times over a 30-minute timeframe. Sadly, just recently since summer 2022, their single quart-size fried rice has changed drastically and is no longer moist flavorful with sprouts and other bits of vegetable, scramble egg bits (like fried rice should be and was), which is the #1 item that sold me on Pings a few years ago. I have always ordered a quart of their upgraded fried rice.The quart size was ALWAYS made gourmet and had good flavor, unlike their dry, plain rice in the individual dinners. They were 2 different rices, no matter what they try to tell me, denying the change.. I have ordered it more times than I could count and only now it is different! Update: Pings made up for bad quart of fried rice by offering me another at no charge today (10/1/22). Rice this time was moist, but some of the pork they put in it was very tough and difficult to chew. I also ordered shrimp egg foo young and the shrimps were so tough i had to set them all aside and toss them, and the pattie edges were hard, crusty, overcooked. Totally let down twice in a week with Pings. I hope they get back on their game soon. I'm gonna have to search for a new local Chinese food carry out that is as good as they used to be. I used to love this place and never had a problem. Until tonight. I walked in an hour before they closed and ordered orange chicken I got home and the orange chicken did not taste like it usually did and had very little sauce. What I realized is that it was probably plum sauce. There was barely any sauce to begin with. It did not look like orange sauce did not taste like orange sauce no matter how much I stir It up. I change my review from five stars to one because this is absolutely ridiculous. For some reason this is happening with a lot of Chinese restaurants I've been going to lately where things are getting sloppy. Even the styrofoam container was melted and bowing. I called back because it took me a good 20 minutes to 30 minutes to get home and there was only 30 minutes till they close at that point and the only thing they offered was for me to come back up and get some more sauce. Usually my food.os.hot when i.get home, this time ice cold. So it.probably was t that hot to begin with. It didn't even taste like orange chicken the amount of sauce wasn't even the whole problem. What does more sauce do of the original.sauce wasn't orange sauce. And when you cook it, it carmelizes..now am I supposed to reheat the chicken with the sauce to get it to caeloze and glaze? Absurd!

Why did I spend 14 dollars on this?

I don't care if I came in an hour before closing if you're going to be like that then just close at 8:00 instead of 9:00. This is ridiculous. it didn't even take as long as usual to make my order and that's another way I know that it's fudged up. Somebody got lazy and just toss...

10/29/23 ordered sesame chicken combination with brown gravy and crab cheese ragoon with a veggie spring roll. Omg these crab cheese ragoons are delicious!the only issue is the unique way they fry them leaves you in a very crummy or sticky situation trying to dip them in the sauce. a little messy but VERY DELICIOUS 😋 THE SESAME CHICKEN IS DELICIOUS NOT FRIED TO HARD TENDER AND VERY DELICIOUS SAUCE WE ENJOYED THE FACT THAT THEIR RICE ISNT JUST PLAIN FRIED RICE IT ACTUALLY HAS BEAN SPROUTS A LIL EGG AND GREEN ONION PIECES IN IT. GOOD FOR YOU PINGS YALL SOLD ME TONIGHT! THAT ALONE SHOULD BRING IN MORE CUSTOMERS ITS DEFINITELY WORTH IT. Last but not least I am a VERY BIG veggie spring roll gal. The spring roll was cooked wayyy to hard and under seasoned inside🤷 sorry guys y'all definitely have to work on those spring rolls but the food is very good 👍. ( not to take from y'all moment but if your a veggie spring roll loving person like myself you have to try Leongs on 23 mile in Chesterfield mi48047 omg🤤 I promise you won't regret it ❤️)
