We have only just learned about this place and so glad we did! It's really a superb place to go whether you're a local looking for a treat or a quick (all depending on the wait time though) meal, or if you're visiting/passing through. They're so efficient running a tight ship and the staff is so super friendly-they get people through quickly but they are popular and can get very busy. The place is so, so clean, and I just love that-the tables are clean and cleaned regularly, which is not common everywhere or to be taken for granted. They have multiple windows for their ice cream, because-it's fresh on-site homemade ice cream and so, so awesome. The food, ob's is what you're looking for, is perfect-we're big foodies, and I mean that. They have a small menu and they do it well. We agree that these fries are the best we've had in years, anywhere, and that goes for both the regular and sweet potato. We personally love the haddock sandwich because it's fresh, perfectly fried and perfect, flaky fish. The burger-I mean honestly it's over of the best burgers we've had ever, and by far better than any fast food burger you'll get. Lastly but not least, they have a wonderful and large outdoor seating area (it's all outdoor seating here) and it's so pleasant and shaded by trees and just wonderful-you won't be...
Read moreI'm writing to share some feedback regarding your ice cream offerings and pricing.
I appreciate the quality and taste of your ice cream. However, I've noticed that your regular flavor menu rarely changes, and new permanent additions are infrequent. Many of your most appealing flavors, such as Dubi Chocolate, Butterfinger, and Oatmeal Cream Pie, are only available as weekly specials and are therefore short-lived. It would be wonderful to see some of these popular flavors added to your permanent menu.
Additionally, I've observed that ice cream prices in the Rochester/Milton area, including at Lone Oak, are quite high. As soon as you leave this area, it drastically goes down. I am consistently surprised by your pricing each year. For instance, last week, an orange frap and two mini scoops of ice cream cost me $22.00, not including a tip. After a tip, the total amounted to $28.00, which I find to be quite expensive, not to mention the portion size is smaller. In 2024 the same thing was $18.00 and in 2023 it was $16.00. I used to come here 2x a week now its maybe once a month. I understand there's inflation but that's a lot for a little bit...
Read moreLone Oak has the best ice cream around...period. They have an impressive list of flavors, including specials. They use real flavors and ingredients which puts their ice cream in a category above the rest. There's a reason this place is so busy! For the price, you get a LOT of ice cream. Seriously, don't get a large because you'll never be able to finish it. Their smallest size (baby) comes with 2 large scoops and I can barely finish it. Staff are always very friendly and knowledgeable about all of the different flavors. They have hand-packed pints of all their flavors (including specials) and machine packed half-gallons of their regular flavors.
Along with the great ice cream, Lone Oak also has some decent regular food, such as burgers, fries and a limited seafood selection. I'm not into lobster rolls, but they're supposed to be really good. I do really enjoy their steak and cheese subs. The regular food is nothing special, but the ice cream is why I...
